I'm not sure about Dubai but in Doha you can't buy real vanilla . you can't buy it as it's alcohol based :)

I'm not sure about Dubai but in Doha you can't buy real vanilla or peppermint extract (or orange, lemon etc) only the artificial stuff, if thats the case in Dubai then bring that over, although possibly in your suitcase as sometimes you can't ship liquids in your container.

Hmmmm, I can think of stuff you can put in the container for me! Looool If you like gardening, you might want to throw some stuff in there.... If you like growing tomatoes get some nice "Texas Tomato Cages"... Stuff like greensand, seaweed powder mix, salts/soil amenments etc... there is so many varieties of gardening stuff in the US that they don't sell here. If you want to make money you could bring any of those things and then sell them to me for profit *wink* *wink* If you are picky about your underwear you may want to buy extra... I still buy all my underoos from the US! ha ha ha but I am a nerd who is partial to Hanes Her Way underwear! If you are planning on having cats you should definitely get a nice cat scratching post and/or cat condo... The scratching posts they sell here are the regular short ones... They have nicer taller ones in the US... They sell cat condos here but they are cheaper in the US. I can't think of other things that would survive in a hot shipping container.... because most of the things I always bring back to UAE are food products lol

Ok.. guys guys guys.. let me rephrase the question... what you really wished you brought with you from back home THAT CAN SURVIVE IN A 40 FT CLOSED CONTAINER FOR 2 MONTHS.. WHITH NO AIR OR WATER???.. :) lol... not to mention sitting around the docks in 40+ degrees heat for however long...!! So that excludes favourite pets and relatives then.... Mmm-might be willing to risk the MIL then-but not the cat!

Nothing - you can buy everything here! I think the point has already been made that if you are particular about a certain brand of make up/skin care etc it might help to ask about specifics.. Funny that, just wrote mine saying that I wish I wouldn't have forgotten vegetable stock granules. And I wish I could bring the ice-cold tapwater to wash my face with in the morning. I REALLY miss that. Vegetable stock cubes are in the supermarkets - would they do ? Lol @ cold tap water...distant memories...how about freezing a bottle of water and taking it to bed with you- would it be thawed but still cold by morning ?
