Where in Dubai do you go to buy PC's and PC components?

We need to purchase another PC - a high end, more powerful one, so it may not be "off the shelf". I've heard whispers of an area in Dubai where there a lot of PC / electronics shops within close proximity to each other, but don't know where it is.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where this area might be?
Thanks

Would these places have the replacement LCD screens? Cracked mine on my HP and got quoted 900dhs!!! For a screen on a laptop that's about 4 or 5 years old... I can get them online for about USD$80 but I don't trust the shipping... If I could find one here I'd be happy, and have a video of how-to that looks quite easy to do.

WOw! I think I've just blown a neurone or two trying to process that, Veekay! That would be an awesome rig : o My DH is the techie in our family but given his limited time available to put together a PC, I've now been told we're more likely going to buy a machine off the shelf or have a shop put one together for us. edited by The Fairybread Thief on 07/10/2011

I am thinking on the same lines. I was thinking of assembling myself. Do you intend to assemble yourself? Want to discuss configuration here? what are your requirements? Want to share titbits about this? I like asus MB extreme4 /16 gb ram / i7 /120gb ssid / graphic accelerator still not decided / 750 /1000 w power supply /2 X 3 TB hd RAID mode / water cooled etc.

Yes, I forgot to mention that. THey area closed from 2 - 4. I would go after 5 just to be on the safe side. Most stores are open until 10pm.

Either go in the morning or late afternoon (aft. 4 or 5). I tried to go there early afternoon but all stores were closed.

The place you are talking about is "Computer Street" which is really a whole neighborhood of hundreds of computer shops. Bound to find a good deal there. It is between Royal Ascot Hotel on Khalid bin al Walid Street and the creek, on the west end of Mina Bazaar.

Al Ain Centre (Computer Plaza) down on Al Mankhool Road. You can park in front or behind in the Spinneys car park. PC Centre on the upper floor has been our stable since we arrived.
