I did some searching on here and went with several suggestions to see Jenny at Hairworks for partial highlights, a trim, and blow dry and when I asked how much it was going to cost the receptionist told me 645 dhs!! Is that the going rate in Dubai for partial highlights??? That's over double what I was paying in the states but I can't get home anytime soon and I finally have to breakdown and have my hair done here in Dubai.

It really depends on what kind of service and quality of hair colour, cut & blowdry you want - I happily pay AED 645 plus to get an amazing guranteed cut, colour and blowdry! Honestly though it is about what I paid back in the UK. And seeing I have been gone 4 yrs it is probably more expensive there now! I use, and so do MANY of the EW Ladies Salon Ink in Oud Metha, best hairdressers in town (IMHO)

Keep an eye out for a deal on living social/cobone/groupon for CNB salon (Christophe Nicholas Biot) in Old town, they often have offers for hair cut, highlights and blow dry for around 350AED. Paula is one of the stylists there, she is british, qualified and has 20 or so years experience, very good hairdresser. Oh Paula just did my hair and it's fab, even after washing it home. She completely changed my colour and I love it! She did exactly what I asked for. My friend did full head highlights cut and blow dry and paid about 650aed. I was more expensive as had to have my previous colour stripped out, then half head highlights and an all over colour in between the highlights, but I tell you it was worth every penny, my hair hasn't looked so good in years!

A friend uses Jetset too and she always has beautiful hair. In the UK I paid £115 for half head highlights, trim and blow dry, so about the same as 650 here.

I was also referred to Jetset at the Grosvenor House after complimenting someone on thier haircut. I don't color - but the cut has always great.

Pinkleton, The colorist is an Irish guy, Patrick, who manages JetSet in Grosvenor house, he doesn't cut though. The guy who cuts (trims really) is Raul. I really love the highlights he does, it's been a long time since I was this happy with my hair, I have been going to him for a year now. I will call Patrick asap! Thanks!

Crikey, I pay more than that, I think I paid 800 last time, I am being robbed !! My hair is shoulder length. Anyway, I will take the pain of the cost as I am always happy with the result and I have heard way to many horror stories of hairdressers in Dubai to risk trying anywhere else for a less expensive option. My hairdresser at home commented they were really good highlights and even the cut was good (which I had doubted), so I am happy enough I found someone who does a good job on my hair. Well don't keep her all to yourself, Please share her with me... my hair and I will both thank you! Salon details and stylist's name would be much appreciated. =) edited by Pinkleton on 14/11/2011

I don't know about prices, but i've been putting off getting my hair highlights because i was afraid of going to the wrong place and getting it butchered. Would you mind reporting back after you get it done... i'd love to hear about it, good or bad!

I find the cost of hairdressing very high in Dubai, but then I'm a country girl so not used to city prices. Juan's Salon in JLT do regular offers - November one is a facial, highlights or colour, cut, blow dry and hair treatment for 500aed. That's more my kinda deal.

My DD goes to Becky at the Coral Boutique Hotel near the MOE and pays about 450 for a full head of highlights. She wouldn't have anyone else do it. (Becky used to work at Hairworks in Spinney's).
