Ladies,

Any of you using any special shampoo/conditioners or hair ointment/sprays for hair loss due to stress/genetic reasons?

I was googling online and there was this one website that suggested to avoid using any hair products that contain sodium laureth sulphate. Now, I spent quite sometime in Carrefour and Waitrose the other day going through all the shampoos they have and I was quite surprised to find that nearly ALL the shampoos contain this chemical. The only ones that didn't, were the "organic" shampoos like Himalayas and a few other brands that I'm unfamiliar with.

I'm not sure if any of you ladies out there are "specialists" in hair loss or what not, but any advise will be very much appreciated :) I.e if your are also suffering from hair loss, be it minor or major, and what products you've used that you recommend, or what you recommend NOT to use etc etc

You need to see a Doctor. Using shampoos won’t help your hair fall as hair is dead once it comes out from the scalp. Find a good trichologist he will check your scalp and your hormone levels to get to the root of the problem (excuse the pun) That's right. Often something as simple as a birth control pill well help regulate your hormones. You might also try something like an ultra-low calorie diet (cycled every couple of days) which is proven to regulate hormones or even the Dukan diet, if you are overweight or an apple shape.

It does not help in cases of alopcia areata, as I understood it our friend was talking about general hair loss. Saw Palmetto at such low levels within a shampoo would have a an insubstantial effect as a phytoestrogen. Even taken orally there is disputed evidence about the dosage required to have any positive effect/

I have heard of using saw palmetto to treat enlarged prostate, and that there are indications for its proposed possibility to treat male pattern baldness. It does bind to the androgen receptor, and although I don't know just how potent it is as a phytoestrogen, I can see where this could help male pattern baldness--not sure about alopecia in women. Herbs can be very potent and are not to be taken lightly!

I know this has been said to death on here but I am going to say it again... If you are suffering hair loss, go and see a Trichologist, they are experts in this field. Just because biotin works for one it will not necessarily work for all, get checked out, you just never know!!!

Took me months then read somewhere its avail at Reflections. They do all the Joico treatments etc there too. Total lifesaver :) Nice! a great tip, thanks!

Hi there , I started suffering severe hair loss last summer (thought I was going through a shedding period) then I noticed a small round patch. I didn't do anything for a while until it got quite bad then went to see 2 different dermatologists who recommended some lotions one been regaine. To be truthful they just irritated my scalp and saw no results. Having googled the condition to death no-one can really pinpoint the trigger for hair loss. I lost the whole of my hair underneath from ear to ear, luckily my hair was long and thick and I was able to disguise it by wearing my hair in a low pony tail (wind was my worst enemy) I had tried many hair loss shampoos and conditioners and the only difference they made was in my purse! I went to a health shop and the lady suggested Biotin , this comes in different strengths. I take maximum 5000mcg . After one month hair started to grow and now I have no baldness and still take it daily. So for me Biotin was my saving grace ! Good luck x

A shampoo will not stop hair loss... however there is a shampoo and lotion that you can get in Dubai called Tricomax, that is very good for female hair loss..

oh, I love Joico! Never saw it here. I may have to nip out that way! I love Davines shampoo and conditioner. Recently my regular salon was out and I bought some Dove "anti hair fall" s & c because I needed something. To my surprise, it is really pretty good, and my hair is much more manageable than when I was using Davines. I am a total product brat, so I had to laugh that I am liking this so much. My hair gets very dry here, breaks, and falls due to that, and to tangles. It is not hormonal, so I don't know if Dove would help with that at all.

There are organic shampoos, hair repair products, deodorants, conditioners, and Ultra Hair Sustained Release 120 Tabs, Nature's Plus, on souq. just do thorough searches as prices vary tremendously. http://uae.souq.com/ae-en/ultra-hair-sustained-release-120-tabs-nature-s-plus-ntp176-by-gulfsupplements-3775544/i/ http://uae.souq.com/ae-en/home-health-hairever-ii-8-fl-oz-4220299/i/

Im far from an expert on the topic, but to my knowledge it will depend on the reason for hair loss (is it breaking or is it falling out for some reason - hormones etc). I have hair fall due to breakage. I now use Joico K-Pak shampoo and conditioner and this stops it completely. Its not available widely in Dubai - I get it from Reflections Salon on Al Wasl Rd.
