Finish Dishwasher cleaner - it's a flattish square bottle that you invert on one of the prongs..We've never used cheap tablets - always Finish although I sometimes buy ownbrand rinse agent, depends what we can get. Personally I've never bothered rinsing plates - might as well not have a dishwasher !! lol Thanks, DT, I'll try that. You know, I always used Finish powerball until one time they were not "Buy 1 get 1"--so I tried the Casino brand, and have to say, I like them better! lol, what can I say, old habits die hard in re: rinsing. DH is worse than I, sometimes I honestly can't tell if he has run the dishwasher or not

Actually i would buy an LG as LG products are good and have excellent service system. As for products, you buy dishwasher salt, dishwasher rinse aid and then your washing tablets. I tend to buy Waitrose own brand or finish when on a deal 2 for one which is quite often. I love our LG dishwasher! I think most of my neighbors do, too, because I often hear the jingle it plays when the cycle is finished coming from other units :) Maybe you don't need to rinse dishes, personally I don't mind doing it as it takes mere seconds. I was just taught to do that by my Mom.

Do you plan on rinsing your dishes, etc. before placing them in the dishwasher? I would use washing up liquid (and rinse of course) to remove any excess grease or food before placing them in the machine. We use the Geant brand combo tablets, the blue and orange. I can't tell you exactly what the features are because it's in French. :) DT what do you use to clean once a month? Chocobella I was looking for natural alternatives for the dishwasher powder and the iherb one looks good. Do you order the powder online ? How do you get it to UAE? They don't deliver here as per their website

I have a Siemens dishwasher with Zeolite. Quite satisfied with performance till now . Dishes come out clean and no strong odours. I use Finish powder and tablets . Once a month , we also run a cleaner through the empty machine on a hot cycle . I also clean the filters once a week by hand

First, if you can, buy Miele. There is absolutely no dishwasher that can even touch Miele in design, performance and low noise levels. That said, I use Bosch/Siemens here, it makes a racket when in use and is a bit smelly, but cleans up dishes ok. We do use quite a bit of butter and oils, and I've not had an issue with cleaning of dishes. I don't wash or rinse dishes either, just remove any big bits of food and place them in the washer, never had a problem with either brand. What's the point of having a dishwasher if you must do half the washing? For Miele we used to use Finish gel and it was just fabulous. It did not work for Bosch though. We use Finish powerball all-in-one bars. They work fine. In case you are looking for an eco-friendly non-toxic alternative, I'd recommend this: http://www.iherb.com/Better-Life-Automatic-Magic-Natural-Dishwasher-Gel-Fragrance-Free-60-Loads-30-oz-887-ml/46165#p=2&oos=1&disc=0&lc=en-US&w=dishwashing&rc=293&sr=null&ic=27. I used this in the Bosch and it did very well. edited by Chocobella on 12/01/2015

The water here is mostly soft - you won't need salt..just a tablet detergent, rinse aid and once a month or so, we run a cleaner through the empty machine on a hot cycle.. Best to just see how it goes..

I will be buying a dishwasher tomorrow but I am kinda confused as to which tablet/powder/salt/rinse aid to use. We are Asian so our food in general is quite greasy compared to most other cuisine. I was thinking about using one of those all in one ones but I heard that I still have to use salts as the water is hard here. Is that true? Could anyone share their experience as to which one is the best one to use here.
