Three questions;

1. Is it worth it?

2. Any companies you would recommend?

3 How much will it cost (approx)?

Thank you!

We just had Saniservice. Excellent. 6 AC units- townhouse is about 1800 square feet in size. Very thorough and smells are gone. All companies do filters and ducts in our experience and they show you nice pictures of before and after - dust removed etc, however our recurrent problem was with the very old units themselves and the drainage piping and mold smells etc, Saniservice is the only company that found the mold in the drainage systems and trays and sorted it out. We Paid 3600dhs. We will use them once a year now as the smell and allergies we have previously been dealing with were terrible. And we will probably get a cheaper company or the landlords maintenance company to do the in-between maintenance of the cooling units on the roof. Just a word of warning to those who are new to Dubai, most landlord's maintenance companies do the bare minimum- usually a rinse of the roof top cooler units, and a quick rinse of the individual AC unit filters that are in each room/bathroom and then a quick wipe of the grills in the rooms that the air comes out of. Over time this will not be enough. Also a lot of them rinse the AC filters (most of the time the filters are also not really even filters) and stick them straight back into the unit wet- further breeding mould. We insist they leave them out in the sun and then we put them back ourselves when they are bone dry (plus a bit of sunlight UV radiation doesn't hurt in terms of killing mould too! I could have written this post. Absolutely agree with this, and second Saniservice. We do the same: have the landlords AC people come in for defects and maintenance of the roof units, Saniservice does the rest.

I can HIGHLY recommend Jim Will Fix It, we have used them twice, to service the entire house, they covered any furniture with large rolls of plastic so nothing was damaged when cleaning the vents. They were very thorough. They will hose down the units also. Better to have them serviced before the high temperatures and dust storms kick in as that's when they will shut down and you don't want that to happen in August! I've been there and trust me you don't want that! They sometimes have a special offer on if you have the entire house serviced. The cost depends on how many units you have. Who bears the cost depends on what is written in your lease, some landlords will absorb the cost, if they are eligible for maintenance. Usually every 3-4 months.

I've used M Plus, I wouldn't recommend them as their service is rubbish but they said to get the A/C serviced 2 - 3 times a year. I agree with the others, it is well worth it as mold spores build up and can cause allergies. With the A/C being used so much here it is worth making sure the air we breath is clean. ..... unfortunately the landlords do not pay for it, it is another bill for you to pay!

Curious to know how often you get it done? Judging by the replies below I also assume the onus isn't on the landlord to pay / provide this. Moved out here recently...another thing for my to do list :)

Absolutely worth it- you won't believe the dirt that comes off when they clean the filters (I watched it and it's amazing)!! You really don't want to breathe that in! I used Jim Will Fix It and was very happy with them, but they're quite pricey - they charge by independent unit. Call them to get a quote.

Hi, you might want to try Smashing Cleaning Services. For the pricing, you can call them and schedule will be set so that their surveyor can quote the price for your villa / apartment. What i like with them is after their service, they send a report about the things they did and they are professional especially when it comes to timing. *Note: I am not part of their company. Just one of the clients who used their service. ^_^

Hi, I would recommend Sani Serve because they did an extremely thorough job and are very professional. I had to call them in a couple of months after another often cited company had only done superficial cleaning and left mould etc inside the AC. I won't be making that mistake again. Sani Serve are expensive, but worth it imo and I intend to use them in the future based on my last experience with them.

Hi, we use EPSCO for AC and water tank cleaning. Yes, it's worth it. The air we breathe and the water we use should be of good quality. Every dirham spent on this, is well worth it. That's my opinion.
