I've been looking at the Canon G12 as thats been recommended, not 100% convinced though. I have an SLR but want something more compact. I have a 'snappy' camera too so I wanted one that had excellent quality, an automatic point and shoot mode but also options for manual use. Budget of no more than AED 2500 or thereabouts (GBP300-400) as can buy in the UK next week also.
Thanks in advance for any tips and advice!

Anyone who has the Canon S95 camera, can you recommend it? Does anyone know the current retail price in Dubai?

Goodness Im so undecided! I already have a really good compact camera, the Olympus tough, 14 MPS and really good zoom, but its still a 'snappy' camera in my eyes, so need something a step up from that. Always been a Canon fan, thats why im drawn to the G12, but its only got a 5x zoom which isnt too great for such a good camera i was thinking?

I love my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 and there are newer versions since I bought mine. Great zoom, takes very good HD videos...underwater shots are amazing (with underwater casing of course). People are impressed when they see my photos and always ask which camera I use.

Canon is really the best make of camera, so the small version as suggested would be perfect. Purchased a Sony Cybershot (after hearing great things about it) to replace a Canon that had got lost, but after about a year, with average use, the quality of pictures started to go down quite noticeably and now have replaced that Sony with a Canon again - the difference in picture quality is incredible.

Which Cybershot model Sticky Wicket? Thanks for the info Kelly_C, do you own one or have used one? I find the reviews on Amazon really helpful, but you have to look through each one, and there are so many choices of camera, hence asking the clever EW gang for their personal experiences or knowledge of great cameras!

Well that Sony we bought is simply amazing for price and should not be discounted, it's almost on par to my D90.
