For the record my baby is vaccinated. I just wondered, if, I decided I didn't want her to continue, or, I didn't want her to have something, is it an option? There must be people here who don't, for a variety of reasons. I'm interested to know those who haven't vaccinated or have selectively vaccinated, have their children suffered as a result? In what way suffered? DH knows a families whose un-vaccinated child died of measles or suffered permanent brain damage - is this what you meant? Years ago my UK hairdresser lost her baby because a client in the salon infected her with Rubella

I guess you need to see which vaccinations are mandatory for school - if you are not happy with having these vaccinations then you may not be able to get your child into nursery/school. But this may not be an issue if you are willing to home-school It is a difficult issue - in many Western countries parents who choose not to vaccinate can rely on the protection in their home-countries that their children get protection from those parents that *do* vaccinate - that these diseases are not prevalent in the community. However obviously there are greater risks in the countries of the Middle East with a high level of guest workers some of whom living in poor sanitation. You never can tell who your child will come into contact with. edited by Puffinlunde on 31/10/2012

There are so many nationalities potentially bringing in diseases from all over the world that I would think very carefully about not vaccinating at all.

The vaccinations are mandatory? What happens if you decide you don't want your child to have them or only some?

Hi Samie, Yes, schools need vaccination card with the vaccines as per the UAE list that are mandatory. The list is not that long, so I am not sure what you would like to skip. I had to add some to make sure that all is up to date with what is required back home. If you have a good pediatrician check with her/him for advice. Hope this helps :)
