I am looking for a portable footrest that can be carried in my hand luggage for use on two 11-hour flight & two 6-hour flights.
This is my first 4+ hour long flight, and any kind of sitting for more than an hour with my feet hanging have caused my feet to swell twice the normal size since they do not rest comfortably on the floor. (I'm really short, 4'9' :( )
When I work, I use the plastic Ikea FÖRSIKTIG Children's stool but I am unsure if this will be permitted onboard as hand luggage.

Any suggestion on where I can find something thats adjustable and permitted on board flights as part of hand baggage? Thanks.

Daiso sells foldable step stools for kids that I think are the perfect height for an adult footrest. They fold flat and are about an A4 size when folded, I think.

I liked the travel smith inflatable ones, but doubtful if shop and ship can get them to me before I travel. Travel socks will be on my list of things to buy and it will help and maybe pick up 2-3 inflatable pillows so that I could stack them up as required. I just wish inflatable footstools were easy to find here in UAE. Most I found online, requires me to buy an inflatable sofa with it

You could always try a guitar footstool - available at most of the music shops. They are very lightweight and usually have a little bag to carry them in.

My cousin bought a step stool some months back. It folds up flat and is small enough. I think she got it at Lifestyle.

I think it was Royal Brunei that had pull down foot rest metal bar (in Economy) that were under the seat in front. I think it was in their older planes but not the new ones. They were very good!

could you not use a blow up camping pillow or something similar, this would not take up too much room and as you are not meant to have stuff on the floor during take and landing, you could inflate it once you are in the air. Just a thought.

As an alternatieve you could consider buying good quality travelsocks. They may not make your flight more comfortable, they will decrease the swelling.

The bane of my travel life! I would happily trade the in-flight entertainment for a footrest. Wish airlines would bring those back. The only place I could find one was through Amazon. I looked everywhere in Dubai without luck. So ordering online seems to be the only option, unfortunately.
