Egypt in July

We are considering Sharm El Sheikh as an option for first week of July holiday.

We are used to the heat, and spent last summer (Late July) in Oman, but wondering just HOW hot it gets. Have done some searches and it says high 30's which doesn't seem that bad to me.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of it during the summer months they could share.

Thanks.

Maybe it's me - but what's the difference between no airconditioning and there is not airconditioning? Read the sentence Sharm will be more tolerable but there is not air conditioning like there is in Dubai One cannot compare Sharm standards for holiday makers to Dubai's standards for Holiday makers and I not just referring to Hotels. edited by McB on 09/04/2012

I would highly recommend the Grand Azure... take a junior suite. The pool is amazing, weaves its way all round... lush ;)

No airconditioning? Of course there is! If you go to any of the big hotels and even most of the smaller ones, they will of course have AC. The last few times we went to Sharm we rented a chalet in a compound called Delta Sharm - its a resort community. There are mangement offies that rent out apartments and houses on behalf of the owners. There are loads of pools, a shuttle to the beach, and also shops and restaurants. If you're only going for a week one of the beach resort hotels might be easier - there are many. If you're thinking about one of the Hiltons, I'd suggest Hilton Fairuz - it's right on the beach. Hilton Dreams is closeby, but across the main road from Fairuz so not directly on the beach. Personally I'd not want to stay at Hilton Waterfalls - its up on the cliff which is beautiful but not as much action as the main part of town. I believe all of the Hiltons have Kids Clubs to keep the little ones entertained. Shop around for good deals - the low tourism to Egypt at the moment is leading to some incredible vacation deals! Read the text ! no one said no air conditioning . but there is not air conditioning like there is in Dubai

Sharm will be more tolerable but there is not air conditioning like there is in Dubai, take a hand fan.

Thanks very much! Will just start the search! Any recommendations welcome! Was looking at some of the Hilton hotels. I need great pools to keep the older ones occupied, but also baby pool for the tiddlies! Everything else doesn't matter too much so long as all the kids are kept busy!

We used to spend time in Sharm and Nuweiba either July or August, very OK if you are used to the heat here... Have fun.

If you are used to Oman, you can certainly take the heat in Sharm El Sheikh. It's really not that bad, and the Red Sea stays cool as opposed to the Oman and UAE coastal waters. You are a gem, just what I wanted to hear :0)
