Hi Piggle! Congrats on finishing week 1!! Well done! I found week 1 the hardest.. It's like a train hits you :-) Keep on going! From now on it will get easier (until you start month 2, so I have been told ;-). Thanks for asking. I'm using a carpet now, hopefully that will make a difference. But I have to admit I'm taking a Panadol now and then, just to numb the pain in the evening. When I did a search for 'knee and ankle pain' on the teambeachbody website, I found I'm not the only one suffering from the same. Proves that Insanity is really a tough program!

Week 1 done......today was tough...my muscles were tired. Feel like I have improved since the first time I did the plyometric cardio routine, but still found myself out of breath quite a bit. Looking forward to my day off tomorrow!!! How's it going Notnewintown? How are your joints coping? Did you get the playmats? I have a niggle in my knee and find that if I 'sacrifice form for speed', it hurts a lot more. Hope all the insane women out there are doing well!

OMG...it's been a while since my legs and arms burned that much during exercise....that was TOUGH......I struggled through the 'warm up'! I lost count of how many times I stopped! My muscles know which ones will be aching tomorrow......Like most things, the dread of doing it is worse than actually doing it. Glad I pressed play today and an excited that, in time, I might be able to do that workout without so many breaks and breathers!

Hey SEY83! Long time no hear... of course we still love you... you were my incentive to start Insanity all those months ago. Really sorry to hear about your neck - maybe you'll be able to give Insanity another go in a few months or perhaps try one of the other programmes that are on the market - as Piggle suggests Turbofire might be a good alternative. I was actually tempted with Turbofire as my next challenge - but have ended up going with P90X - the boxset has just arrived but I won't be starting until after my summer holidays. I need some time out from exercising 6 days a week. Currently alternating between running and Jillian M's Ripped in 30 - although I'm not sure how much longer I'll cope with the outside temperatures so it may be back to Jillian full time before long. Notnewintown - really hope the mat works - let us know how it goes. Piggle - you'll be able to loads of pushups after this! Remember ladies... Dig Deeeeeeeeeper!

Snow White: thanks! I know I need to be careful. Insanity is really a tough program, and I don't underestimate it. I hope I will not be one of these people that have to stop. Insanity is gruesome, but yet so addictive.. Piggle and SEY83: thanks for the tip! I will buy a thick mat. I think that will make a difference, as I'm working out on a tiled floor at the moment. SEY83: I hope your neck will feel better soon!!

Good to hear from you SEY83! Wow....was that 3 months ago????!!! I am sorry to hear your neck is still causing you pain. Turbofire is a good workout and less trying on joints and the body overall....more like aerobics on acid but the dance tunes are nice and it is a very good cardio workout with HIT sequences in them. When I was supposed to be working yesterday, I read the whole of this thread and felt so motivated to start today....even though I have had the Insanity DVDs for a year......I had planned on working up to him with JM and Turbofire....but after much procrastination, I decided to just go for it as I needed a new challenge! I am already factoring in an inability to walk, let alone walk in heels for the first week, that I am planning next week's work attire to include flats....... If I manage to do full push ups after this workout.....that alone will make me smile.... Good luck Insane ladies!

Hello Insanity Buddies!! Lol I'm not sure if I'm still welcome here as it's been nearly three months since I completed Insanity. Snow White I have thought about you several times, how is life after Insanity??? I know what you mean about still losing weight because that's what happened with me. Lol I can tell you that I now seem to be stable. I miss losing weight. I have tried to restart Insanity a few times, but it has taken its toll on my neck, and I end up very sore for a few days after, so I'm definitely not going back to it any time soon. Unfortunately I was slipping back into poor eating habits and no exercise so this week I have taken up running again and I have also been doing situps. Tonight will be my third run this week and I am looking forward to it! Notnewintown, congratulations on getting through two weeks! I know what you mean about your knees and ankles. As Piggle recommended, get your self a mat, and I would say go for one that is thicker than your standard yoga mat - this madae a big difference for me. Scroll down this thread to about page 3(?), I'm sure that one of the other ladies that started later complained about her knees but then said it got better. I do agree with Snow White though, Insanity is tough on your joints and it's certainly not for everybody. As I mentioned above I can't go back to it anymore because of the neck pain, which I guess was probably as a result of Insanity :( Piggle - Insanity is all mind over matter! Lol your muscles are going to be screaming and burning all week but somehow you're going to get up and do the workout everyday even though every muscle in your body is saying no. I felt sick after every single workout the first week. However, after the first week your body stops aching, and you look forward to the session. You feel you can do more reps, take less breaks, etc. For the first few sessions do push ups on your knees. That's what I did because I couldn't do push ups either and then slowly you can start doing proper push ups. It better to do some push ups on your knees than none at all. I can still do 20 push ups three months later! How are the other Insanity ladies doing? Did you carry on or give up?? How are you feeling?

Thanks for the encouragement Snow White! Good for you re: finishing and continuing weight loss. Are you doing any other work out now? I have done Jillian Michaels and Turbofire on and off over the past couple of years...but I am pretty out of shape now - that is from a Shaun T perspective. I find JM doable and not as challenging and the initial results I got have slowed. So, am hoping Shaun T can push me. Just did the fit test....OMG......I swear I heard my core muscles scream......I wanted to give up after the 2nd move and felt disheartened at how hard I found it. But you are right, SW, it's always like that when you start a new work out. Gradually it gets more doable (will not say easier!), and strength and cardio improves. Am watching Plyometric Cardio now so I don't get too much of a shock tomorrow!! What I like about these workouts, Shaun T's team finds it hard.....they stop for breath and look like they are in pain.....Another thing I love is that the ladies in the DVD are not super skinny; they are so toned and healthy looking. Notnewintown: Well done on nearing the end of week 2. Awesome job. I have bad kness and keep both strapped with supports. I wear cross trainers and for jumping, I use my kids soft play mats. I try jump to a level where I feel I can land 'softly'. Even if I can push it further, I err on the side of caution because as Shaun T says 'be safe'. I read somewhere about using ice after these types of workouts, even if there is no swelling or pain. You can never know what's going on on the inside! Good luck with week 3!

Ah... another Insanity lady!!! This is brilliant I didn't realise there were so many of us out there! Well done on getting through your first week. - you'll be pleased to know that it does get slightly easier (until of course you reach month 2 and then its a whole different level of pain!). Anyway, knees and ankles... I didn't have any problems at all - are you making sure when you do the jumps that you are landing "softly" and bending your knees... the pain could be caused by "jolting" - do you notice it after any particular exercise or workout? Have you ever had this sort of problem before? Perhaps try and slow down a bit and make sure you keep your form and see if that helps. If it continues sadly it might mean that Insanity is not for you. This is a hardcore advanced programme and for some the intensity is too much for the body to take. Good luck!

Hello Insanity ladies! I'm about to complete the 2nd week. The first 5 days I had a lot of muscle pain, but thankfully that's over now. I have a question: since a few days my knees and ankles hurt a lot. Maybe due to the jumping? Does anyone of you have/had the same? If so, what can I do about it? I'm already wearing Nike crosstrainers.. Thx.

Good for you Piggle - you won't regret it - I finished Insanity a couple of weeks ago and am still losing weight even though I'm not consciously watching calories or doing any exercise. I was in fairly good shape before I started - had been doing Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 - but don't worry I struggled with push ups before I started as well - I can now rep out 20 quite easily! Don't be scared... enjoy it - push yourself as hard as you can comfortably - you will ache after the first few days and you'll think you'll never ever be able to get through a workout without taking 20 breaks but you'll be amazed at how quickly your fitness improves. Don't worry about the fitness test either... it is there just to show you how much progress you make during the programme. Keep us posted... and good luck

Ladies, Well done on completing Insanity. I plan on doing the fit test today.......just had a look at it and comparatively, your scores are amazing....were you in good shape before starting this programme? I can't even do a proper push up......feeling a little scared but looking forward to the challenge and, even moreso, the results! BTW...see what you mean by Tania........

Hello Insanity Buddies... My little HRM tells me that I'm burning between 300 and 400 calories on Month 2 - Month 1 was only between 200 and 300 - but I'm not convinced that is accurate at all because it "feels" like I'm burning double that! I've also read somewhere that others claim you burn up to 1,000 calories. Fairfield... be careful with Month 2 and your fasting days... I agree with SEY83 you may find you'll struggle with the workouts on so few calories - that said everyone is different and I don't know enough about the "science" behind the 5:2 diet to say what effect hardcore exercise would have on your fasting days. Keep up the good work ladies and I hope you are all digging deeper!!!

Well done ladies for sticking it out! I'm so happy that you're all seeing results now! Fairfield - I'm guessing that you didn't read all the posts on this thread because my reaction to Recovery Week was exactly the same as yours. I was expecting yoga type stretches and some very light cardio, low and behold when I did the first Recovery Week session I was not happy!!! All I wanted was something very relaxing after month 1! It does get easier though and by the end of the week I actually quite enjoyed recovery week. Just wait for month 2...it really is a whole other level :-( You will appreciate the fact that recovery week was too easy in the end! From what I know about the 5:2 plan I can imagine why you are finding it difficult to do with Insanity. I'm not really sure what the accurate calaorie burn is (Snow White are you still wearing your monitor?) but my guess is it can be anywhere but 300-400 calories for month 1 and then 400-600 for month 2 and I have read on forums people quoting even higher calories counts than that. Basically my point is if you're only eating 500 calories then you are not giving your body enough reserves to workout and it will work against you rather than for you. I definitely think you need to up the calorie intake in month 2.

Hello all, Can I just say that I've now realized that Shaun T's version of 'recovery week' and my version are not the same! Gosh, it's still quite a work out. I was expecting something more in the Cardio Recovery vein but no! Pepito, the 5:2 system has worked well for me in the past, but strangely I'm having very poor results from it since I started Insanity. Perhaps the food deprivation and the shock of insanity aren't a good mix, or maybe I'm just overeating on the the 5 days (particularly weekend). However, I'm not experiencing any problems (other than usual!) doing the work out on fast days, as long as they are not too close together. I think a diet review might be necessary for me in month 2. I'm so encouraged that some of you have had such good results. FFx lol Fairfield, it's like his version of warm up, not quite what I was expecting! I thought that the fasting days on the 5:2 had to be consecutive. I am on calories restriction and it's working for me, except on weekends where it's really hard to stick to any diet routine. I am just starting to see results, as I can now see my toes without sucking in my tummy, lol :D

Well done Pepito... I wouldn't worry too much about missing days as long as you make up the sessions. Great that you improved on your second fitness test - really does give you a boost when you see that. I started to see a difference probably around the second week - but I was keeping to a fairly strict diet as well. I think SEY83 was the same. The real difference is happening now though - I'm halfway through my second week of Month 2 - again I think SEY83 saw the same results and from her recent post below it looks like she has continued to lose weight after finishing Insanity.

Hi Ladies, It's great to hear from everyone and see new joiners :-) I am on my week 3 now, I have to admit that I skipped a couple of days again :-( I was up at 5.30am this morning to catch up with the days I missed, and will do one more insanity video this evening. I have done the fit test after completing week2, and my results are slightly better this time :-) I am not taking any protein supplement but I was considering the 5:2. @Fairfield how do you plan your 2 fasting days? can you keep up with insanity whilst fasting? I cannot wait to see a drop of a size or two. Snow White & SEY83 when did you start seeing the changes on your body?

Welcome back SEY83 - good idea with the four days a week - I'm already thinking about what I'm going to do next - I find the weekends the hardest to fit in a session so I think I'm going to aim for five days week and have the weekends off. Not entirely sure whether I'll do Insanity or go back and give Ripped in 30 another go... I'm concerned that Rin30 won't be challenging enough... also seriously considering P90X too... decisions decisions!!!! But I'm with you on the long term sustainable routine as opposed to a fixed period of 6 days of training. For me it will be about maintenance as opposed to losing weight. I really wish I'd taken a photo before I started... I have lost two dress sizes now - wieght still hasn't gone down by much but that new wardrobe is going to have to be purchased soon as all my clothes just fall off me now! I am so so pleased and I really don't think I would have got the same results if I'd continued with Jillian Michael's. I also feel so much fitter and healthier - my skin is glowing and I have loads more energy. I feel like I'm 10 years younger! Fairfield - fab news on getting through Month 1... Month 2 is definitely a challenge but you can do it... don't try and keep up with the guys on the DVD - work at your own pace but push yourself to get as much out of it as you can. With Syntha 6 I take it after I have worked out in the evenings - I add it to my calorie intake as well so it is a sort of meal replacement too. But I don't tend to take it every night though. Beebers is the real expert on this sort of stuff... it might be worth posting a message asking her for advice. I've been reading the threads on the 5:2 diet and I may give that a go after I've finished Insanity.

Hi Ladies, I finish month one tomorrow (whoop) so did Pure Cardio this morning. Oh that's hard. I was so pleased to find this thread. It's so interesting to see how you are all doing and that some of you survived the whole thing. I read through yesterday and rang hubbie to tell him 'they all hate Tanya too'! I'm a bit wary about month two. I have a question about the Syntha 6 some of you have mentioned. Do you take it as a recovery drink or as a meal replacement? I usually have a protein shake with berries and chia seeds for breakfast, but don't take it at other times and not on my fasting days (I'm doing 5:2). Many thanks FFx

Hi Snow White...lol @ you being deranged...I might be inclined to agree a little bit! So I restarted on Monday night and did the month 1 plyo as I can't be bothered with the fitness test, but then I didn't work out yesterday. My aim is to do four days a week because I really struggled with the 6 days a week thing. Or to word it better, I plan to do as much as possible but not stick to the strict schedule. I'm basically looking for something sustainable to keep doing, rather than the tough regimented two months that I can't wait to finish...does that make any sense at all?? The good news is that 6 weeks after completing Insanity I can still do push-ups!!!! The bad news is that I had bad stitch :( My muscles are a little bit sore, but a million miles off how I felt after completing my first Insanity workout the first time around! So how has your body been changing from Day 1 the first time until now? And what is your next plan? Pepito/Rocketeer - what are your results like? Are you loving/hating it?

Hahahaha Pepito! I actually like Shaun T, i feel like he is encouraging but not annoying like other fitness instructors! I was given Jillian's Full Body Revolution and was considering doing that instead of repeating Insanity. I actually started the 30-day squat challenge but hated it! It only works one area of the body and to be honest after doing Insanity, 100 squats felt like I had done nothing! I tink Insanity is calling out to me though, I will start this week!

Hi ladies, I'm glad to see that the insanity community is growing! Welcome to a world of insanity Rocketeer! The first week is the hardest, I had feet cramps too, but realised it was because I wasn't relaxed, I was tense during the exercise, I don't know if that makes sense? I was kind of putting too much pressure on myself to do very well? Try to relax I have just completed week2, yay! I have started at 53kg and I am now at 51.8kg :-) I love the program! And yes I hate Tania! I thought I was going mad for hating someone that I barely know! Glad I'm not the only one. One tip to keep up with the team is to mute Shaun T, and put some music on instead :D Love hearing from u all ladies SEY83 an Snow White you have been my inspiration to get started! Thank u Keep posting your progress

Dont give up Rocketeer... SEY83 is absolutely right in what she has written - the one thing I would add is do not compromise on your form - that bit is so important as you could end up doing yourself some damage. It would be much better to slow right down but make sure you are doing each exercise correctly and take those breaks. Have you got proper cross trainers? Are the laces OK? I find if I tie my laces up too tight I get foot cramps... may also be worth just spending a bit of time wiggling your feet around after the warm up - might help? The important thing is not to throw in the towel... you CAN do this... its incredibly hard work but so so rewarding. SEY83 - have you restarted? I had the lovely Mr T in his tights last night with the Max Cardio Recovery - boy that one's a toughie!

Rocketeer - yes she is the lady in the fit test! Lol don't worry soon you will be on a first name basis with all of the people in the video!! Lol if after one week you want to kill her then just wait until you get towards the end! Secondly, don't worry at all about the way that you are feeling. Insanity is hard core, way more than boot camp and it's your first week. Even by the end of month 1 I still could not get through a whole workout without having to break sometimes. But, you get so much better as the days go by it really is about persevering and "digging deeper". Insanity is intense on your joints, so make sure that you do additional stretches if you need to, but if the pain is too intense then just stop. I took four days out for a neck injury and Snow White took a few days off for a head injury. You shouldn't push your body if you don't feel right about it. Even the recovery CDs are a workout in themselves, I could not get through the lunges routine on the Cardio Recovery CD without taking breaks. Put it this way (about to quote you Snow White!) even the people on the video take breaks, and they have probably been practicising for months! Shaun T encourages breaks! Even with breaks you are going to see amazing results I guarantee it :)

Thanks Snow White and SEY83! You two are dedicated! SEY83 - I have been told that muscles retain a lot of water when worked out..3.5kgs could be some of the water weight lost. This is why they build a week or two recovery in hard core programs. Snow White - If its the lady in the fit test- I completely agree - she is hyper and sometimes it motivates me to get my fat ass moving. But many times I just want to want to kill her! I think I need more luck.. Cardio recovery even though a short one - was a complete fail on Tuesday. I have been noticing feet cramps..so much that many times I have to stop because of it instead of being out of breath or tired. Wednesday - Pure Cardio - a few minutes in and I had to stop completely. I am not sure if any of you had this issue? I know I have flat feet..maybe because of that..? Never faced this during boot camp or other circuits before.. Tonight is definitely rest..had to come to work in flats..

Hahahahaha Snow White! I know exactly what you mean about Tina, I couldn't stand her either. I'll bet all the other people in the video hate her too! It's her grin the harder the exercise is, the more she grins! Plus she's definitely Teacher's Pet :D I'm not surprised at all that you are finding Month 2 easier, it's definitely because you did month 1 twice. Lol I'm thinking of doing month 1 on repeat and not doing month 2 at all, I struggled with the longer, tougher routines and kept comparing them with month 1 which was a breeze in comparison! Ok Insanity restarts today! Although defintiely not 6 days a week!!!

Hi SEY83 - LOL at your muscles deflating!!! Get back on the Insantiy wagon... you know you love it really!!! I'm only on Day 4 of Month 2... surprisingly enough it hasn't been as bad as I thought it was going to be - not sure if that's because I'm in a lot better shape than I was the first time I started Month 2. My biggest "gripe" is that blessed Tania woman... I seem to be hating her even more now... no idea why either!!! My fav workout is the Max Plyio because she's not in it!! Rocketeer and Pepito - please let us know how its going... really hope you are both still plugging away and are seeing the results...

Hello ladies! It's so nice to know that our numbers are growing!! I have been so busy at work lately that I haven't had a chance to even log on let alone respond! I have now been done with Insanity for about 5 weeks and I miss it! I am getting the Insanity itch again...lol I think I miss it cuz my muscles have begun to deflate lol plus I seem to have fallen into bad eating habits again. The shocking thing is that I have actually continued to lose weight but that is probably as a result of the muscles deflating :( I'm now down 3.5 kgs from when I started, and the compliments are still rolling in! Snow White how is month 2 going?? I definitely DO NOT miss month 2 but I think I would really enjoy month 1 again. I randomly did a video a couple of weeks back until half of my family descended on me (again!!!) over the school holidays. I'm planning to restart over the next few days, but I'm not going to stick to the 6 days a week - that was too tough! I have proven to myself that I can get through the whole program and do it as ordered by Mr. Shaun T, but now I want to do it with less pressure. Rocketeer and Pepito - how are you both getting on? Rocketeer definitely don't worry about your fit test results - you will get so much better and like Snow White said that results are amazing! Pepito - definitely don't beat yourself up about missing a session. I missed a couple and my brother's words to me were "you're not a ****** olympian athlete" lol that resounded well with me! Put it this way, whatever you are doing is better than what you were doing before. Just try not to quit completely.
