OK will look there. I was at main Carrefour. Thanks. SM, did you ever find the harissa? I was in C4, MOE yesterday and they had the can in the same aisle as the tomato ketchup.

Yes, Spinneys Town Centre has it - in a small jar. I have also bought some from Geant in a tube. Makes an awesome lamb casserole in the slow cooker!

How strange I had never heard of this paste before but brought some from spinneys this morning for a lamb recipe. I got it from the one at springs town centre, was in the aisle with the sauces and other paste, I got some red curry paste too and it was next to that. Hope that helps.

Yes, that's the brand of harissa, (Cap Bon) that Carrefour stocks. Sometimes it's in the aisle with the spices. What are you going to use it for?

it could be that they sell it in a tin or more common here in a tube. You can find it in C4. the design is very similar for all the brands http://www.google.ae/imgres?imgurl=http://ninecooks.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83451fa5069e20168e6432965970c-800wi&imgrefurl=http://www.theperfectpantry.com/2006/11/harissa.html&h=558&w=460&sz=88&tbnid=xOMXqVaiaknuoM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=74&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dharissa%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=harissa&usg=__02sBdzhEh3UoqRR2XAJC2gMlJbk=&docid=BHeitgLtC0-uYM&sa=X&ei=iU5TUM7xDMHAhAedioEY&ved=0CDsQ9QEwBA&dur=1373

I bought some recently at Union Co-op, Safa Park. They were in the tomato paste aisle, but a bit hidden in the bottom shelf.

Thank you for your replies everyone. M_K I am a terrible cook so I will go for the store bought Harissa as I am sure I will somehow ruin it if I try to make it. I will probably ruin the recipe even with the store bought one.

U can make it at home in minutes .... i lived in Nigeria and got hooked to it there.... For a very spicy harissa: cayenne / ancho chilies For a medium spiciness: use New Mexico chilies Ingredients: 10-12 dried red chili peppers 3 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 teaspoon ground coriander 1 teaspoon ground caraway seeds 1/2 teaspoon cumin Preparation: Soak the dried chilies in hot water for 30 minutes. Drain. Remove stems and seeds. In a food processor combine chili peppers, garlic, salt, and olive oil. Blend. Add remaining spices and blend to form a smooth paste. Store in airtight container. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil on top to keep fresh. Will keep for a month in the refrigerator. ENJOY!!
