Hmm... Fair enough. I guess I have to get into the habit of sorting. Was hoping there was a way to get around it. :) Terrified of washing my littlie's school uniform now in case I ruin it! :)
At this time of year, even the cold water is hot - if it's coming from a tank on your roof. There's usually a "tap" setting on your washer but again, it means nothing at this time of year

Is it a top loader? Many top loaders have hot and cold feed - they don't have an internal heater like many front loaders.
In my previous villas we just connected the cold feed as we only had one tap although my machine had two hoses - one for hot and one for cold.
This place has both hot and cold taps so we have connected both hoses from the machine but if I want a cold wash I just select a cold program but as Aroha says, no matter what program you select, if the water coming from your cold tap is hot, then a hot wash is what you'll get.
I have never seen a washing machine here hooked up to a hot tap...they run on the cold tap only, one hose, one hook up. I'm sure some people have both hot and cold but I have never seen it. The main problem is, even with your machine set to cold, the water from the tank/pipes is HOT.
You'll just need to seperate your colours/non colour fast and wash accordingly.
It won't work unless the water heater is on.... am I doing something wrong? I never seperated my colors back home as I used cold water but now I have ruined a towel and a couple of shirts because some colors seem to bleed in the wash. =( Help!!
