Hi Ladies, my friend and I are thinking of going to Kenya for a week at the end of August to do a safari trip. We'd like a reliable company or tour guide as the one we used when we went to Zanzibar ended up trying to rip us of. I was just wondering if anyone can recommend any guides or companies that you have used before? Reasonably priced too as budget is a big consideration. Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply but had to comment as we've just returned from a fabulous safari trip in Kenya and can highly recommend the place we stayed. It was called Sarova hotel and it was in Masai Mara...it was a great experience.

I think this pace looks wonderful. I haven't gone, but we are booking in December. http://www.mara-enkipai.com/ We stayed at Oloshaiki Camp and it was absolutely beautiful. We can't fault anything about our whole stay. Lovely camp, staff, food was awesome. You can leave your lodge and drink coffee/tea and watch the gazelles, giraffes, zebras across the Talek River. The driver was very knowledgeable, knew the area quite well. Lovely camp. When the kids are older, we'll definitely stay there again :)

Hi BellaUK It was just over 11000 dirhams for the two of us which I thought was excellent value as I had looked at other companys and they were very expensive. :)

dubai 2003 - can you give me an idea of how much it was with Air Arabia as that is exactly the kind of package I am looking for? edited by BellaUK on 05/05/2011

My DH and I just did a Safari with Air Arabia in March and have to say it was fantastic. We did a 6 day 5 night stay will all transport, accommodation, food except your first night in Nairobi, your guide for the whole trip and the price was great too. You can call them and tell them how many days, nights that you want to do and they give you a price for it. I have to admit I was a bit nervous when we booked as we had never been with them before. But the whole experience was fantastic. The only thing was the flight it was clean and service was fine but the food on board wasn't that great but it is only a five hour flight so not the end of the world. Good luck in finding what you want. :)

But isn't ok for Barbie Doll to recommend things that she thinks are good? She is only giving a call center number so it's not like she is profiting directly from this and she is not slandering others.

Dnata Holidays have some resonably priced packages too. Give them a call on 8008118. Good luck. IT IS SO OBVIOUS THAT YOU WORK FOR DNATA ! Had a look at most of your posts (out of 265) and you are actually writing the same 2 sentences... Everytime there is a thread on travel, you are on it ! Yeah. I noticed it too a few days ago.

I can highly recommend going to South Africa for a safari, and August is the best time to see the animals there. We arranged it through SA Safari, and they have a person based here to Dubai who can help you plan the whole thing. There are a number of direct flights to SA every day, so get hold of Yvette, her details are on her site sasafari.com.

I am also interested as I wanted go during the week of the first Eid. How long is 'enough' to go for? Can anyone give me an idea of how much they paid? I saw on the Qatar Airways site they have an offer on for 7 nights and all sorts of activities and internal flights and trips etc. for around 13-14k QAR, which seemed pretty good. I will try Air Arabia too.

I highly recommend go@Africa. They are based out of South Africa but they can arrange any trip for you - you just have to sort out your flight. SUPERB vacation we had. The person you should contact is: diederik at Go2Africa ([email protected]) Tell him you got the details from his country(wo)man living in Dubai :) More info: http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=126046 Kenya is so beautiful and we too went in August. Just let Diederik know your budget and what you'd like to see and do! Forgot to mention: we used Qatar Airways back then - and from the moment we landed all got taken care of by Diederik. I think there are other 'budget' airlines that flies to Nairobi now... edited by Flower_girl on 04/05/2011

My daughter and I went with The Adventure Company last year. It was fab! We went for 10 days and saw lots of different places. They made sure we saw the main animals by visiting sanctuaries and specialist reserves. The accommodation was amazing and the tour guides were also great. The company is a UK company, but they also do the tours without flights included so you can then meet them there which would work for people in the UAE.

An EW poster raved about one of the Air Arabia package safaris in Kenya - am bearing it in mind for myself for the future! They have details on the Air Arabia website for holiday packages and prices are reasonable. edited by chizz on 02/05/2011
