Basically i co-ordinate a book club and this months meeting will be in Ramadan so we are going for iftar - and as the author of the book is Libyan thought a Libyan iftar would be appropriate.... I guess will have to go Moroccan instead :) Unless you would like to be chef for a night UAE 2012 or Umm CA :) Ishehere, i would have loved to help out but i won't be in dubai during ramadan. I love cooking!

I am half Libyan, though born and raised in California, i had to learn to make Libyan food because unfortunately there are never any authentic restaurants! There is one called LIDO next to mercato mall which is morrocan/tunisian and tunisian is the closest cuisine to Libyan food...... if anyone really wants to learn how to make it i can always post a few of my recipes?

so its libyan food closer to moroccon or egyptian? I would say it is closer to Morrocan if I had to choose, as their national dish is couscous. My mother makes good Libyan food, there always seems to be a lot of lamb, mint and a bit of heat too. Do you want to sent her over to cook Libyan iftar for me? Ishehere, which Libyan dish would you like? I usually make the traditional Libyan dishes. It's not too similar to Morrocan because Morrocan food usually has sweet (such as raisins) in their couscous where as Libyan couscous has carmelized onions and meat ontop. Also check this website if you ever would like to try their cuisine. I only tried their tuna and harissa bread which is amazing mmmmm http://libyanfood.blogspot.com/

Unfortunately I haven't seen any Libyan restaurants anywhere, if there were any then I'd be the first there.

no, I haven't seen or heard, but I have a Tunisian friend who loves to cook for people! She says that there's a Tunisian restaurant in Deira.

From what I recall about my trip there, they would probably best be avoided!!
