I rarely leave Mirdif as it has everything I need right here on my doorstep :) Love living here, but our villa is NOT in the flightpath. Our first villa was right under the planes and although they never woke me up it was annoying when the big ones came in the middle of Greys anatomy. The cargo planes no longer come here now though (the big russians, lol) so its quieter then it once was.

We're in (IMO) the best part of Mirdif whereby the sound of the plane never bothered us (have a 2.5y DD and a 7.5mths DD). Recently we decided to move out of Mirdif purely due to a personal choice but been told by our landlord today that we cannot break the lease (after renting this for 26mths) unless we find a new tenant to take over our 3 bedroom villa. Wonder if the wonderful ladies in the forum can help spread the word for me? It's a 3BR+Maids, G+1, all en-suite bathrooms, private garage for 2 cars, compound of 6 villas with a swimming pool, close to street 71. Will be putting up an ad on dubizzle too.

We moved to Mirdif from Springs last weekend. Lived in dubai years and always at 'new dubai' end of town. Firstly, I love the villa we're in and the compound. We're 'off' the flight pathbut have been suprised at certain times by the plane noise. We're just off to the right off 71st street, at the top. It seems the planes are louder when taking off this way, although only noticed that in a monring, and it would seem when the wind is bad. Our first night we were woken at 4 am, but the next day was that terrible sandstorm so guessing thats why we heard more. We've not been woken up since. Agreeing with what others have said, I've not left Mirdif yet! Really liking it so far and enjoying having so much more space in the house and hubby home earlier as he workd in RAK.

location can be an advantage as it's close to Emirates Road, easy to get out of Dubai, handy for the airport (in fact, you can wave in your visitors and see their inflight movie, ha ha) and brilliant mall at MCC and Arabian Centre. Great for families as it has a nice suburban feel to it, everything very local. I don't drive so it's handy to live in a self-contained area, then just go further afield if we want to on weekends. The disadvantages are that some parts of Dubai seem quite far away, traffic in and out of Mirdif at peak times can be troublesome at THOSE traffic lights, plane noise can be bad depending on wind direction and time of day, the mosques can also mean morning sleep is disturbed if you live by one or two of them. If we go out, we go to festival centre hotels or airport hotels, and Wafi isn't too far either. There are also nice creekside hotels in Deira. If you're villa hunting, you probably get more for your money but the properties may be a little bit more run down in some places, and hence DEWA bills may be a wee bit higher. You occasionally get a little whiff from the sewage works nearby too, but usually passes after the morning rush hour and the air clears. I can walk to Mirdif Park from my house which is a bonus - and a short distance from Uptown mall, Mushrif Park, MCC. Hope that helps

If you live there please advise! I know someone living there now who is happy there, but I also have a friend who moved from mirdif and would never go back as although she didn't mind it when she lived there, once she left she decided it was actually not a nice place for her to live... I think if you have to move because of rent etc, whats the harm in giving it a go for a year? There are some really nice villas, and if you look carefully you may find some out of the flight path... good luck

Love Mirdif. Lived there for 6 years. Only moved to be closer to work. If your office is close by and the schools your kids attend are close by, you rarely have to venture very far out as you basically have everything on your door step especially with MCC there. It's a nice community in spite of the noise but as others mentioned there are certain parts where you won't hear it. Also value for money is not be underestimated, the villas are lovely and spacious.

I love Mirdif and would not go anywhere else ! I have been here for 11 years and always more or less under the flight path ! but even that does not bother me. I just use portable stand up fans on all night to give constant dull noise so we don't hear the planes or mosque which we are also really close too. Some people seem to be really sensitive to noise but if you are worried about it then there are certain parts of Mirdif where you can go to avoid it, like up 71 street and all the roads off to the left especially where you can see the Arabian centre from but even on the other side of 71 the houses are off the flight path. You will always see the planes in the distant but that is fine. The top end of 71 and going round the corner near the desert /Mushrif Park area are fine. The planes go over Uptown and Shurooq, but you should really not worry about it. Mirdif is great, all the parks especially Mushrif and the large one next to Uptown School, MCC which is fab and it's not far to DFC etc. Only takes me 15 mins or so to get to Dubai Mall over business bay bridge, I feel it's really central. Hope that helps ;)

I also moved from Jumeirah to Mirdiff after 6 years and have to say I really like it....I find there is pretty much everything you want here and plenty of nightlife/restaurants in the hotels around the airport. I'm not on the flight path so no issues with noise..

We have been here for 10 years. We spent 8 years under the flight path and weren't too bothered by the noise. We are now on the other side and hardly hear the planes. We rarely have to go further than Wafi (hairdresser) for anything. We wouldn't move but we don't eat out all the time, although this is easier now that MCC is built. This puts some people off as there are no licenced venues really close by although there are loads within 15 - 20 minute drive.

Its rather quiet here, except for the planes! I love this place actually.I moved here about a year back. Initially we had an issue with planes but now we r used to it. There is MCC, Arabian Center, Etihad Mall and Uptown Mirdif close by. Then even Mushrif park is near by. We r pretty happy here!

I lived in Mirdiff for many years and loved it. Depends where you are to get the aircraft noise, some areas are much quieter than others. Good facilities now with City Centre there. I had no realy complaints.
