Did anyone on here go last night or did I miss the thread talking about it?

Won VIP tix and stood 5 people deep from the stage. Paul is a true entertainer and defiantely enjoyed performing for his fans! No lip syncing.....just old fashioned singing and the odd crack in the voice. Very authentic!! Totally crushing on a 69 year old and his band. What is it with uniforms and musicians....oh my!

no - too prude! ha ha. someone who was there must help me out. All I can say is that it's always best to have everything well concealed and tucked away neatly.

well - honestly!! was I the only one that noticed? I did mentioned it to my friends and my husband too but I got fairly strange and dismissive looks. The braces did not help the cause :-) ok so we need more descriptive language to help visualise this!

Just have to add my comments to this thread to say just how fabulous the concert was. Having spent about 5 solid years of my youth besotted by his and Beatles' music I kind of wondered whether I had overdone it a bit. Well Sun night was a reminder as to why. Somehow, from seeing him live with Wings in London many years ago and then of course here and there in the media I had kind of started thinking of him as slightly cocky and maybe just a little over-rated (albeit undoubtably talented) but needless to say I don't think that anymore. He's actually quite humble and good at laughing at himself (always a good trait!) So fabulous concert and very good choice of songs! Some unexpected. And 90% of the photos on the screen pre-concert? I have 90% of them in my teenage scrapbook and diaries. That makes me a big fan or a stalker! Only criticism..... cringe cringe... he should have worn more appropriate underwear. :-)

Irooni, concerts are advertised everywhere! Paul McCartney was part of the Formula 1 in Abu Dhabi and for about one month at least the line up for the concerts has been in the press. If you are keen to know what is going on, I would read the entertainment section in any of the English Speaking newspapers, National, Gulf News, 7 Days, check out Time Out magazine, either on line or in print, sign up for their newsletter, check out Virgin, read What's On, keep an eye out on expatwoman, ITP, Flash, all the event organisers......go onto the Madinat website and see what is happening at the theatre, to be honest all concerts and events, unless they are smaller and more intimate or private, I find are very well advertised in the UAE. no stories in the paper probably because Paul did not come off the stage till after the printing deadline, he played well after 11 pm so maybe tomorrow? More like 12 midnight - he was loving it.

Did Macca do any Beatles songs? Also old stuff? DH loves watching the 'Coming Up' video, mostly for the drummer who looks like a village idiot http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=cDBkySeyiDo#t=156s LOL

(Just posted on F1 thread): Hop on over to the Paul McCartney thread you guys! Totally agree..thought he was absolutely BRILLIANT and demonstrated such a range of talent but with humility and joy! The best concert I've been to here by a long way......fireworks and atmosphere amazing too. Well organised and all ages seemed to be enjoying the music not just my older crowd (average age 38!). ;) Rolling Stone were there and I'm sure they will write a good review but will have to wait a wee while for it! Have been smiling all day just thinking about what a great evening it was!

I agree, probably the best entertainer! Saw Clapton in Singapore and he just went through the motions. It was good but not entertaining. Roger Waters in Canada....amazing but this was by far so so much better! Still singing JET wooo ooo oooo ooo JET! I have to also mention that the banner that played on the sides of the stage before the show was well thought out. So glad he had pictures of Linda on there. A real class act!

He was amazing, probably the best entertainer I have ever seen and at 69 years young, sending my hubby off to the gym tonight :)

DH said he was out of the stratosphere..... Truly amazing performer, nothing artificial going on there. DH was in the VIP section too, you couldn't have missed him at 6ft 7".... So why no story in the papers then?

There is some chat about it under the F1 thread but he deserves a thread to himself!! Amazing night and one to remember. Live and let die was one of my favourites, along with Yesterday and Hey Jude, classics! Loved every minute and the organisation was superb so it made for an overall brilliant experience and am so lucky to have been there.
