You have been unlucky this past week , gosh I rarely take a cool bag even in the summer but get home quickly.
Good luck when you let customer service or manager. it is frustrating!
Jewelsmiddle - I would have taken them all back if they had all come from the same shop, but it would mean a whole lot of running around to return all of this weeks items!
Actually I am very careful about keeping fridge items cool, I use a cool bag at the check out for the fridge items and I put them into the fridge or freezer asa I get home, my fridge freezer is plenty cold enough.
Thanks for the advice. I will take it up with all the stores concerned next time I am there for sure.
The quality of food here really is a disgrace. I have to tell you something, and it is frightening, but many shops, and restaurants as well, small ones especially, turn of their fridges at night as a way to save electricity. They figure as long as the firdge stays closed its ok..ugh...they do this even in the summer-and sadly a lot of times that when we see a spike in food poisoning cases.
And don't get me started on changing sell by dates...One of my relatives owns a shipping company that often ships foods to the ME. Food that is often labled unfit for human consumption-but by US law it can be bought and sold to be used in pet food only. But thats not what happens. I[b'>t gets shipped here-with expired dates-by a lot of local food dealers and redated. There are certain foods here that I avoid[/b'>.
Can you explain further - what type of foods does this apply to - what do you avoid because of your inside knowledge?

Hi, in general avoid prepackaged cold cuts-like the deli select ones, packaged sausages, hotdogs (especially these as they get redyed to look like they should), chicken liver. As a general rule, try to avoid anything from Western countries that is a prepackaged meat that has preservatives to give it a longer shelf life-as eventually they do expire, but the date on them get changed. If you buy cold cuts, from the deli counter, look at the meat closely, if it has any irredesant color to it, avoid it. These cold cuts should also be eaten with 3-4 maybe 5 days tops-and thats pushing it. In the states, they last a week, but not here.

Why are you not phoning or going back to the shop if you have had that many in 7 days ?
I have not had a problem , and it can be an issue items left around and then going back into the fridges/freezers in shops .
Temperature has increased this past week and may need proper storage in our cars also and straight into a fridge at home.
Very strange to have yogurt off !
Is your fridge/freezer working correctly ?
Having just chucked a tub of riccotta cheese I bought yesterday into the bin I'm getting a bit tired of finding spoilt items in the shopping. The incidence of this seems to be increasing-Just in the last 7 days I have had from various different well known supermarkets
Salmon that was tainted
Riccotta that was sour
Steak that was rancid
Yogurt that was off
Mince meat that was high
Frozen green beans off
Its not practical to drive all the way back to return the item each time, I think a lot of the problem is due to some shoppers abandoning fridge items at the check out where they then sit until they go off and then I suppose staff return them to the shelves.
We have no way of knowing if sealed items are off and its a real nusiance and risk - anyone else experiencing this a lot or am I just lucky?
Mrs Mopp, as a matter of interest which branch of C.....s was it? I've often bought groceries from the small one in umm sequiem and have had no problems.
I have had a lot of problems with that one

We got coleslaw from KFC that had new sell by date labels over the top of other earlier dated sell by dates.:(
:\: Did you call the Ministry of Health? That is so very wrong.
I would recommend Lulu's for freshness. Been shopping with them ever since they opened and not once have we found anything not completely fresh. HTH.
I don't buy meat but I have never had a problem with dairy or produce at Lulu.
We bought two tubs of ice cream (on different days) from Ch--thr-m- and they had both clearly melted and been refrozen.
Had similar problems with them about a year ago, haven't shopped with them since
We stopped shopping with them about 2 years ago after a spate of food that had spoilt. The last straw was when we were providing the meat for a friends BBQ, when we pulled it out it was literally green. Even the butcher admitted not to get the 'butter chicken' kebabs as they were from meat a few days old.
Got caught out the other day and had to use them as an emergency, spent 150 dhs on a joint for sunday lunch (unexpected guests) and yet again the meat had turned, was stinky and green.
NEVER AGAIN!

I hate it when that happens. Ice cream is so expensive here so it is upsetting after you've paid 35 dirhams for a tub and you have to chuck it.

You can actually get pretty bad food poisoning from ice cream (semi raw eggs).
Really easy to make your own and so much better than ANY you can buy.
