Seriously, its either that I left in the US for a long time or this is plain crazy... I have defecieincy in Vitamin D, and my US doctor prescibed medicine for me, but I left the states without buying it (I forgot that is).. I went ot life pharmacy and they told me, no problem they wil get it for me.. I went ot collect the pills today (I ordered 12) and they were packed in a urin container (I guess b/c its sterile, but seriously disgusting and the box had no information on it.. so the urine container had 12 pills with no information.. the pills mind u, had nothing typed on them (so no name of manufacture, dosage, NOTHING, a clear capsule with white powder in it.. the first thing that poped my head was "r u serious??" how would I know thi si struely Vitamin D???? thereis nothing on this capsuls, there is nothing on the urine container... nothing shows what these medications are, I told him this could be really sugar, or flour, or freaking drugs... give me a proof.. oh madam I dont have a proff but trust me.. seriously I dont know the guy... and in the states, when they dispense the medication they give u paper work that tell us what teh medicine is, interaction, description , and usually the capsul will have an indication of whats in there... so I refused to take it (even though I paid for it) and asked for either a proof that this is infact Vitamin D or return my money... they agreed to send me some paper work from the other pharmacey where supposedly they bought it from... but seriously I wont take this stuff...
I am sooo frustrated with this whole medical things in Dubai.. but this honslty tops it...

Welcome to Dubai :-) It is probabbly harmless but I think I would have left without the pills as well. After living here a while you will realize that this kind of discussions are useless. Getting upset about it just wastes your time and energy. On a sidenoteand living in Dubai with all its sunshine: you should go out and spend at least 10 minutes a day outside in the sun and forget about the pills... Debbie, I really need your number :) reading yr post made me feel better.. it was just a waste of my time yah, u r right!! and YES energy too.. I was upset when I came home, look how many bad cells I have produced in my body b/c of that.. its frustrating though.. anyway, as for th esunshine, appreantly b/c of the sunshine int he gulf, people tend (me too) to put a lot of sunscreen on which makes then vitamin D difficient.. my level is 12 while my doctor would like to see them at 75!! Amalwaleed You need to be very careful and know exactly what you are taking. If you levels are that low that is what you have been advised to boost and then regular sun would help maintain unless doctors advises continuing for some medical reason. If you have purchased only 12 tablets, this is a very low number but depends on what you are supposed to be taking. Is it D 3 OR D 2 OR D something else your USA doctor prescribed ? Up to last year D2 was only available in a few hospitals in Dubai , City Hospital is one of them but do not know about now if D 2 is available in the wider market now and that may be why the pharmacy put them in a dispense bottle as they came from another location or from a bigger jar which is not unusual in Europe .Maybe if you use your USA prescription or go to a doctor here for one you may be lucky and claim it on your insurance( not always possible though). Vit D 3 , 1,000 IU , Now brand , 180 soft gels price 85 Dirhams in Dubai For me living in the middle east it is easier to get medication instead of always having to pay to see a doctor to get a prescription and doctors visits are expensive when one has to pay for them as not all countries have a system where government covers costs or most of the cost.

Yes welcome to Dubai :) The first pharmacy i went to, the checker suggested my husband and I should purchase some interesting...ahem...items by the checkout (no thanks, not necessary) and gave us band-aids instead of change--because they were out. :) one for the journal! Most interesting trip for some shampoo I've ever had :)

If it's D3 that you use Solgar brand is quite easily available, but I think 5000 IU is the largest we have been able to get here in pill form. You should hear the excuses used by pharmacies here when you ask for K2. Yes D3.. I would like to 50,0000 if I can, if I cant then I will go to the 5K one...thank u for responding..

Try the health and Organic shop in Ibn Batutta near Geant and Starbucks. They have a whole range of Vitamins. I I also take Vit D tablets. The last time I got some was from Grand United Pharmacy (cant remember where they are) and there telephone number is 04-3398125. I would never take pills without a proper container that is sealed. I am sure it wont be drugs but it can be placebo's , how would u ever be sure so good for you. Even though we trust everyone in dubai very easily, there is still chancers....I have to remind myself of this every now and then. :-) Perfect!! do you know if they ask for perscription? I only have my blood report from the US.
