Coffeemate - fill your boots and enjoy life - you have LOADS of time. My wedding was planned in 6 months start to finish and my darling man proposed to me when I was at my biggest (although he didnt think so!) I didnt get married here but planned it all from here (and in 6 months) and got the dress here (Ann Rashid - fantastic) and have to say it was all very easy and enjoyable! Helped by the fact we had a few days at home when we just got engaged and had a lot of luck in terms of knowing our venues and choosing them. However, we had to organise our own caterers/suppliers and everything (even cutlery and furniture) as venue didnt supply them and managed it all very easily by phone and email so dont stress as will be a breeze if marrying here! Do you have much to lose? Even if you do you have LOADS of time! Enjoy yourself - life's too short to be stressing just yet! ;-) You are becoming my wedding guru! Thanks :)

Sunglow, you're so right. Thank you for making me see sense! (am I turning into Bridezilla?!!) The wedding is not until October next year. So I know there is time - like you said, probably too much time and I'm jumping the gun a bit and it's stressing me out! I have decided to chill out for now. Enjoy my holiday and time with family and refocus when I get back in October - by which time we can book the venues and it will all start to seem 'real'. I will hit the Dukan again though for a week or so before going to the UK! Can I ask, did you get married here?

Coffeemate! Stop panicking ;-) When is your wedding? I have to say that in all honesty if you dont have too much to lose then perhaps you are peaking a little early as you dont want to drop it all quickly then either put it back on before the wedding or (and I dream of this) become too thin! You should do what works for you and if WW does then great. I also did ww some years ago and it is good but just find that Dukan is so easy once you have the motivation. I would say that you are probably too aware that your wedding is a little while off so not really there in terms of motivation........I know that when you get to 3 months before then you will be really going for it and it WILL work whatever you do. This is the most important day of your life and you need to look and feel great. One thing I remember is someone saying to me that they really regretted not losing weight for their wedding and it really stayed with me everytime I felt like giving up. When I was dancing and enjoying myself at the wedding I really felt grateful that I was able to let myself go and not worry about breathing in/flabby bits...I just wish I could say the same now!! I am getting back to it slowly but the motivation is not as strong as it was for wearing a white dress (let's be honest if black is so slimming then white is really the opposite!) Why not aim for a 3/4 month plan? It's so hard being over here and eating out and drinking etc but I have to say I never gave up the odd tipple and when I went home I initially panicked as wouldnt be exercising or sticking to the diet but then I really enjoyed the fact I could buy ham cheaply and easily if needed a quick munch and was also walking a lot more than I ever would over here! Try and focus on the positive. Good luck whatever you do - keep me updated! :-)

Coffee Mate! Where are you? Are you hiding in a pool of Mojito? ;-) Hope it's going well. I well and truly fell off the wagon last night and feel yuck today - thai and G&T and am feeling it today! Back on the yoghurt and chicken today! Let me know how it's going? SO missing my wedding planning! Have the prospect of a new JM dvd being delivered today.....oh dear......can't wait - NOT!! Oh Sunglow, I've lost the plot! Not only have I fallen off the wagon, I think it ran me over :( I'm finding it so difficult now OH is back, what with the meals out, drinks, socialising etc. Plus we're going away from Eid, then the UK for 2 weeks. Heck, I know my Mum is going to make me try on wedding dresses and I soooo wanted to be stone lighter by then! I'm thinking of chucking the towel in until after holidays. (I know, it's the wrong attitude) Mum said she will give me all her new Weight Watchers info so I can start that when I get back. It's worked for me in the past. Good luck with JM! That reminds me, I haven't worked out with her for over a week. I'm spiralling out of control here! I keep saying to myself 'its ok, you have a year' but what happens when that year turns into a month and the bl**dy wedding dress won't do up?!! On the positive side, I now haven't smoked for 6 weeks and 5 days :)

Ladies, I hope everyone is doing well and staying with this. I started on Sunday at *cough*93kg*cough* and was 89kg by Wednesday BUT managed to sabotage myself on Thursday when I got invited to a party...... Today is my 'second' first day and I plan on making the best of this but please tell me, what CAN I eat that can help me do number two? Constipation is killing me :( I plan on going into the PP for the next 5days then move on to PV Please help :( This is what I am concerned about....I really need my fibre.......I started this diet in May...did 3 days and my poor tummy was in a bad way......maybe I was going to have a bout of IBS anyhow and it's just coincidence but I fear not.....:( Delvin edited by delvin on 20/08/2011

Hi Coffee mate Please stick with this. This will happen. You sound very similar to me! I stared doing the Dukan and Jillian Michaels combo before my wedding and dropped 6.5kg and 2 dress sizes in just over 2 months after a very slow start! I got married 2 weeks ago in a Beautiful size 10 dress....the poor dress shop luckily had got a 10,12 and 14 in for me and I was SO thrilled to have worked so hard and stuck with it now I see the pics and had all the compliments! Am now back to it and loosely Dukaning again and did my first Jillian of 3 weeks last night. Oh dear.....can hardly walk today! Sticking with it though as it is SUCH a great feeling to feel confident in clothes again. As for the Dukan it's now just a part of my life. I'm even taking a risk and taking 3 dress to be massively taken in this weekend. I did gain 1.5kgs when home for the week after my wedding but there is NO way my gorgeous hubby will have a fat wife again - although bless him he doesnt think I needed to lose any anyway. GOOD LUCK with both the diet, the exercise plan and the wedding!! :) Ahhh Sunglow, you've made my day! Congrats on your wedding and such a great achievement with the weight loss. You 'll be my inspiration from now on!! I am sticking with it although my back is as stiff as a board today! Think I overdid it on JM's military shoulder presses yesterday! hahahaa. Think I'll lay off the weights this weekend and only do cardio. I've seem the most beautiful wedding dress in Dubai Mall and my goal is to go back in a month or so and try it on again - see if I can get the zip closed this time! I'm trying not to obsess about the scales too and focus on how my clothes feel. Going to view another potential venue for the wedding reception on Saturday, so that will be another little motivator! Thanks for your support, it's really given me boost! :)

Morning ladies - I've woken up in a panic and need motivation! I'm on day 3 of Cruise Phase and for the third day my weight has plateaued. I know the book says to expect this, but after a flying start it's a little frustrating. Any fellow 'cruisers' experienced this and got through it?! Thanks

Hello all I started Dukan on 1 august, first day of Ramadan, and at the end of day 6, I have lost 4.2 kgs, but gutted as I did my first day of p and veg... But got confused and had carrots with host of other veggies. Hopefully not too much damage done I am fired up and determined to keep going. edited by NorthernChic on 06/08/2011

ladies stick with it! Im on stabilsation from tomorrow and haven't gained any weight! YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Great to hear success stories! My last day of Attack Phase tomorrow and I'm 3kg down. This really does seem to be working and it's really no hardship! Currently munching through a bowl of prawns and steak to look forward to this evening! (after Jillian Michaels has kicked my butt!). I tried on a gorgeous wedding dress last night - but it didn't quite fit. Well trust me, it jolly well will next time I visit that shop!! Keep it up Dukaneers!:)

I just wanted to share my lunch with anyone who might be interested - It was really quite nice! I made the oat bran pancake and used it to make a wrap with 2 slices of butterball turkey and virtually fat free cottage cheese. I almost tricked myself into believing it was a burrito!

Thanks Mishmash, nice to be reminded that I'm not alone in this battle of the flab! I'm not giving up loosing weight and will stick with low-carb just not with Dukan. I have several stone to go and know myself, if I'm finding it this hard and frustrating already I'm not going to keep it up. Rather then throwing the towel in the ring and gaining the weight I lost plus no doubt a bit more, I'm going to find something that is a bit easier to follow.

You know we as women are soo hard on ourselves, I try so hard to maintain my weight but its so hard living in the middle east as we are away from our families and friends, we drink more cause we're lonely, we comfort eat and we spend our time supporting our husbands who work huge hours mostly away from home. At least with the humidity we can sweat a few pounds Ha Ha:)

Fell off the wagon a bit and climbing back on. Seriously thinking of changing over to another diet similar in style i.e. low carb, but more veggies everyday. I still have a book called India and Neris Idiot proof diet somewhere. Think I will re-read that and then decide. It the PP days that get to me and make me grumpy and hunting for forbidden foods... Also the other diet allows the occasional glass of wine! Am dreading the next couple of weeks when DH is away on business and I'll be all by myself. After that we're away on holiday which will not be easy either... :( Try to keep reminding me of my goal and looking at all the pretty clothes that I will hopefully be able to fit in soon! Hey muurtje..I completely hear you, the PP days are terrible. I'm probably losing weight a little more rapidly because I hardly feel like eating on PP days. I know that Dr Dukan says to take the all or nothing approach but maybe instead of quitting it.. you can try tweaking the diet a bit and see how it goes.I have a friend who does 1 PP day and 2 PV days and she's still losing weight. So maybe a little relaxed version (with a glass of vino/week ;)) might still do the trick and if not at least you'll not be eating all the wrong food. For me..I am so tired of standing in front of a wardrobe full of clothes but having nothing that fits my post-preg body that I can do anything to get back in shape. Funny how being disgusted is so motivating :)

Hi Mishmash It's not too bad at the moment as I'm staying with a great friend who is v accommodating. I have been out walking with her everyday which is great. Her husband is halfway through reading my Dukan book and is keen to try it. Xmasbaby - that's great news about the consolidation stage. I hope to be there by the time we return to Dubai at the end of August. I really find it easier to stay focussed on myself when I'm on holiday. I actually have the time to plan what I'm going to eat and to exercise regularly. I'm loving it and it doesn't feel hard at all. Fingers crossed I can stick with it.

Going to give it another try, so far today 0% yogurt and the bran, then ham and egg for lunch. Will try and persevere until friday but really think it will be easier back in Doha. (27th July) then I'll have no excuses:)
