Hi ladies,

Im desperately looking for Gripe Water (prefer Woodwards) for my 4 week old!!

My husband has been to the chemist who advised they are no longer able to stock it... (arghh!!)

Has anyone seen it for sale in Dubai recently?

I recently bought it in Aster Pharmacy TECOM. Try giving them a call to check.

Why are you allowed to give a 4 week old baby gripe water when they are not even allowed a few sips of cool boiled water? You would only give 5ml of Gripe Water occasionally with a dropper, not sips of it to drink like water. Its a medication not a drink. edited by chezmoi on 05/05/2015 Obviously I know that. I dont understand the logic in babies under 6 months having medicine before every feed when they are not allowed to have water at all. I agree I would love to know what the harm is as my two never suffered and neither have my grandchildren, the youngest of them is only 3 and he's fine. The idea is that if you give them water their small stomachs will fill up and they will be too full to drink milk, water is hydrating but not nutritionally equivalent to milk. A few small sips won't hurt, (10-15 ml depending on the age and weight of the baby) it's only a problem if the baby drinks huge amounts of water equivalent to what they drink as milk. They only sell the gripe water without alcohol here. I haven't seen woodwards anywhere, but infacalm is available. It was also quite hard to find. A friend recommended himalaya brand but I haven't seen their gripe water anywhere edited by Cowboy on 09/05/2015

I was not being sarcastic, I didn't know if you knew that or not and. possibly anyone not familiar with Gripe Water might think it some kind of drinking water for babies due to the name sounding like its some kind of water. No offence intended. Hope you find some.

Poomba: Let me know if you have difficulty finding one. I bought one for DS and it remains unopened. We bought it at Lulu in Al Barsha. I will be happy to give you mine should you need. I live in the Marina.

Thanks ladies for your help - I'll try Boots...if not will buy online ? Wood wards can be given to babies from 4 weeks onwards... So my little one is just over 4wks now. My friend told me about Infacol also, so using that in the mean time ? seems to be going ok! As my baby is also on formula he has been having boiled water since about 6 days old... But of course mixed with formula powder. Appreciate all your help ladies x

Have you tried Boots? I used to see it there before. You can buy it online at Chemist Direct, they ship to Dubai. http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/woodwards-gripe-water/prd-h27?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=&utm_campaign=Shopping%20%7C%20Baby%20%26%20Child%20Care%20%7C%20Products%20%7C%20Colic&utm_content=s2wG8Gk8U%7Cdt_pcrid_62352618682 edited by chezmoi on 04/05/2015

Woodward seems to have disappeared off the shelves, unfortunately! Life pharmacy now stock a gripe water brand called Acure, which has different ingredients and doesn't seem to be as effective :(
