Hi ladies, .. Let's meet! I've also just had anomaly scan and am delivering at al Zahra. I've been going to exhale on jbr for prenatal yoga and am trying to get to zen tomorrow night. If anyone knows of any other yoga or Pilates classes, let me know! It's my first baby and I'm very excited:) I'm also practicing gentle birthing, like hypno but just a different programme. Am planning to go to Al Zahra antenatal class with my husband in the coming month or so:) :)

Hi dec 2014 ladies, I am on 23 weeks pregnant. It's my second baby, expected day dec15th. I amnot sure I can help on the packages. As I will give birth @hometown. I follow up with doc azza goda in medcare safa. I feel a bit stressed as I am working on potty training my toddler 2 years and 2months. Wanted to accomplish mission before delivery, but seems a bit difficult. Any feedback on exhale prenatal classes? And what about childbirth classes? Available in dubai ?

Hi Ladies We had our 20 week scan and all looks good, and thanks to husband caving, we found out it's a girl! The name hunt is on, but it's so hard agreeing on one. I would love to meet up with some December mums! When are you starting your antenatal classes and where? Anyone done the classes at Zahra Hospital? Would also be interested to hear about pregnancy fitness classes besides prenatal yoga. Anyone doing hypnobirthing?

Hey mezi & sandgrounder, It seems you can't win... It's either too much or too little weight gain. I had the 20week scan today, a slight abnormality combined with my age (36) meant I had to have the Harmony test. I'm hoping it's all nothing, and the result is only 10 days away. Not feeling ant movements yet, but it's my first so I could be missing it altogether. Exciting to find out 99.9% she's a girl. The name hunt can begin now.... Good luck with your scans next week ladies!! :))

Hi Mezi If the baby is doing fine, I guess you are one of the lucky ones with weight ;) I've got my 20 week scan next week too so we must have similar due dates, like you I have been feeling movements, my 5 year old is desperate to feel them too, she is so excited. If anyone wants to meet up that would be great, I don't really know anyone that's pregnant at the moment so would be nice make some new friends.

Hellooo mommies-to-be and mommies, Been a while since I posted as well.. I too have my 20 week scan next week. Looking forward to it and praying that all would be fine. Unlike Britgirldubai , I haven't gain any weight :S When checked strat of 4th month, the doctor said i should start gaining 1/2 kg/ week ideally. But I havent ever since. I try taking more milk, eggs, nuts etc as adviced by the doctor..but i guess i need to do more.. But the scans show the baby is doing fine and has been growing well. Starting to worry now. My DH says I may not be eating enough. Will check wiht the doctor again during my next visit and see what she has to say. Oh BTW, I have strated feeling the movements...I used to wonder what bubbles breaking meant when I was reading about it..but now I can clearly feel it...and it feels great :)

Hey Dec mums, This thread has gone very quiet so I'm going to kick-start it... Hope you're all surviving the hot & humid UAE summer, and ever-expanding tummies. I've had sickness, various infections, rashes & groin pains but I'm hoping its uphill from here :) Good luck with the 20week scans everyone!! I'm a bit concerned I'm gaining too much weight, despite healthy diet and exercise :( Has anyone tried any birthing/pregnancy classes yet? With/without hubbies?

Hi bbarmani, It tells you the risk of Downs Syndrome & some other similar genetic defects. It's done at that stage to give you enough time for further tests (e.g. amniocentesis) if needed, to confirm the defect, and decide whether to continue the pregnancy or not. I'm afraid i don't know about Harmony but i'm sure you can Google it or ask whoever offers the test for more info.

Congrats to all the Dec 14 mums-to-be! I'm expecting our 1st baby on Dec 24th. Feeling so much better in the 2nd trimester!! (Thank goodness) I'm planning to go back home (uk) to deliver, so I can't help with hospitals info (there's lots below already). My O/G Dr Koster is amazing!! (043881887) I had the nuchal screening with Dr Afshin Mirza at DHCC (who was excellent, and i'm planning to go back at 20-21 weeks for the detailed organ scans. I was planning to go to mums & bumps coffee at Mercato but it's stopped for Ramadan. It would be nice to chat to people going through the same, and without our old friends & family around. I tried Pre-natal Pilates at Zen Yoga (Town Centre, Jumeirah) yesterday pm, was quite good. I want to try the am class which is Pre-natal Yoga & with a different instructor, just need to chat to my boss about altering my working hours. Good luck everyone!! Hi. Congratulations! What does the nuchal test tells you? I Think That's the one I missed. I'm 17 weeks now, but I haven't done any tests for birth defects. There's one I can still do I think it's called Harmony. Hello to all mummies,and mummy to be's I am 16 week pregnant and moved here 2 weeks ago.We have insurance but doesn't cover maternity yet. So I will have to go private. I was thinking of going private clinics for scans and tests and deliver in a good,well equipped hospital. I keep hearing good things about Al Zahra and city hospitals. have you guys decided yet?Do you know the latest prices for thse two hospitals?

Congratulations to all moms to be! My Due date is around December 16. I'm still trying to decide which hospital. One colleague recommended City Hospital. I haven't been there yet. I have seen Dr Jeniffer Karsirsky before and I really like her. Has anyone done the Harmony test ? I hear is recommended to all moms now, but it's definitely optional. I was not in town during the weeks they do the NT Scan, so I missed this test. I'm still considering if to do the Harmony test which is pricey or not. Any workout recommendations ? Yoga or any other particular exercise good for pregnancy? Has anyone look into the child birth classes yet ?

Had been to Zahra last week to visit a friend who just delivered..Quite impressed with the hospital, i must say! We have booked for the tour on 28th June. Heard the midwives are really good in Zahra. I have my 12th week appointment on 19th. Can anyone tell me what scans/tests to expect during this checkup? Is it only the NT scan that they do during that time or they do some blood tests as well?

Hi December Mums I am so happy to have finally made it past the 12 week mark! Can't believe how good I feel after 6 weeks of ****. We have had our NT scan done and at the appointment doc said she could see the *** (13 weeks). DH doesn't want to know the ***, so stopped her from revealing, but I went back afterwards and got the details, now I want to know how accurate is it this early on? I thought they don't / can't tell you till at least 16 weeks? How, and we are with Dr. Yamini and I absolutely love her and her nurse! The front desk staff at the clinic are a bit on the slow and unorganized side, but so worth it seeing Dr. Yamini, her super cute nurse and the midwives!

Samplesbump- I felt the same as you when choosing my Dr. My research led me to Dr Britt and I planned to see a couple then make my decision. Once I'd met Brit there was no question in my mind who I wanted! Hope you get lucky first time like I did! All the best.

Huge congratulations to all December mummies!!! Hi Mommy Bear, congratulations, I'm glad I'm not the only confused mummy to be, such huge decisions to be made in such a short time.....and we have the same due date :) x Ladies, I've heard so many conflicting recommendations that I have just gone with my gut/bump :) and booked my first appointment at City with Dr Britt. I'm going in with an open mind, if I'm not happy i'll make some more appointments elsewhere, I'm not considering myself committed to a single Dr or hospital until I'm 100% comfortable and happy! So fingers crossed I get lucky first time. Hi Dais 29, Welcome to Dubai, i'm sure you'll love it here.... I'm 12 weeks now with my first but I've been in Dubai for 3 years. I am also keen to attend classes and groups to meet other ladies and would appreciate and recommendations. I love the idea of a birthing pool, but I am disappointed that you can't use it for the actual birth :( Hope your first appointment goes well x

Hello Ladies, I am 12 weeks pregnant with my first and new to Dubai! My husband and I visited Al Zahra hospital and were very impressed with the facilities and also the midwives on duty. They are very pro natural births and we were recommended Dr Yamini so have booked our first consultation with her for next week. It was also the first hospital that we visited with birthing pools which I would like to use. You cannot use them for the delivery but for labor :) Does anybody know of any groups/classes for pregnant woman as I am new to Dubai and keen to meet as many other ladies as possible. Thank You x

Yes, we enquired about Zahra as well, but we did not find the rates very reasonable. C Section as per them was 22000. Just considering worst case scenario. We thought the Dubai branch would have delivery but apparantely they do only Antenatal there :( We found the Antenetal package in Al Rafa to be quite reasonable as compared to other hsopitals 4000 - From week 12 to nine months. We enquired in Baraha Hospital. They do not have antenatal packages as such but the delivery rates are same as in latifa. Normal - 7000 C Section - 10000 Now we are back to square one in deciding where to go :(

Hi Ladies, I am 7 weeks pregnant! i am due the last week of December. This is my 2nd pregnancy. I have a 13 month old! I am feeling overwhelmed as to how I will care for both. The nausea has kicked in! Anyhow I did deliver my first born here. I had arrived 20 weeks pregnant and went to a doctor recommended by my husbands colleague and she was horrible! I switched last minute to Dr at American Hospital ( literally two days before giving birth!) . I went with Dr Braithwaite, she is head of OB. She was pretty good and i was quite satisfied...thinking of going back. Just wanted to see what other doctors you may recommend.

Congratulations mezi.. My friend was with al rafa with dr sejal,she like the hospital and her dr..her reason was also same as she lived near the hospital...I advise you to call them and ask for information. I too tried for 3long years and this is my first too.

As you don't have insurance I would recommend Al Zahra or Latifa. I used Al Zahra and their maternity package was very reasonable. I didn't find them very "warm" but they ticked all the boxes and overall I was satisfied.

I dont have an insurance, so need to really plan and find affordable packages. Does anyone have experience delivering in Al Rafa Hospital,Mankhool? Or may know of someone who has delivered? It is pretty close to my place, so wanted to know how the doctors there are..

Hi ladies, I am 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I'm really excited but a bit overwhelmed and nauseous :) !!! We have decided not to tell anyone back in the UK yet as we are going to a family wedding in August and thought it would be nice to surprise everyone at the same time. So I am a bit at a loss for people to talk to about it..... until then. I would really appreciate any advise on Dr's. I have been told that City Hospital is great but the Dr's really vary, any recommendations would be fab. Thanks ladies x
