Hi, have any moms gotten their kids immunized at a government clinic in Dubai? Was the staff child-friendly and did you get the appointments on time? Or is it better to go to a private clinic?

Thanks AnonDubai :) Any reason you suggest Rashid Hospital instead? Also how long till you receive the actual card? My DS is 6 weeks now and needs his next vaccs in 2 weeks time! I was under the impression that only certain clinics and hospitals can process health cards. I am sure that Rashid Hospital processes them and their machine is always working. The card is given to you immediately.

Hi Pingu! I recommend that you go to Rashid Hospital on a weekday morning to get the health card. Your baby can have free vaccinations until the age of 2. FYI, the government clinic finishes vaccinations for infants at 18 months.

I want to get a health card for my baby, can I apply at Al Bada or Al Wasl hospital? Planned to go to Al Bada tomorrow but will it be closed on a Saturday? Also is there a certain age up until where we can do the vaccinations at Government clinics? Thanks so much

I also got cards and needed a photo. After hours of trying to take a passport photo ourselves where she had eyes open, looking straight ahead etc we eventually took her to the photo shop near carrefour in MOE. They managed it in about 15 mins!

I got health cards for my two at Latifa Hospital two weeks ago - they're both under two - and I needed photos. The usual consistency we just love here!

Ladies I have a question reg baby's passport photo for Gov health card...how did you take it? did you take it yourself ot have it done at proper photo shop? My baby is only one week old so Im thinking of taking picture myself and printing it at home as it is hard to get her her eyes to stay open for a long time...... any advice is appreciated. thanks CitronKB You don't need a photo for a health card for kids under 2. They only give you a paper health card for under 2s as a temporary card. Over 2s need a photo. I guess they figure that kids change so much that there's no need for a photo!

Hi Ladies, i managed to get the health card without the babies passport and visa. I was told in Al Wasl to attend Al Bada clinic to apply for it. I went there and needed 1 passport picture, birth certificate, mothers passport, mothers visa and Dewa bill. It cost aed 110 and it was printed while i waited. I now need to attend al safa clinic to make an appointment for the vaccinations. LuLee - what and where is the DNRD? Im expected her passport this week so it would ne good to get her visa also sorted before we go on holidays. Thanks again :)

Hi Susandiaz - thanks for posting that list, it's really helpful. I have some questions. When you say bring passport and proof of visa - is that the baby's documents or can I use my pasport and visa? We haven't had her visa processed yet (still waiting on passport) but her two month jabs are due in two weeks. I have a healthcard for myself but not the baby yet. Basically can I get her vaccinations done at the gov clinic using my healthcard or does she need her own seperate one? Thanks again! She needs her own. You have to have her visa processed too. My DD was late for her 2 month vaccines because we were waiting for her visa. Yes she does need her own unfortunately - visa proof and then healthcard. We did our baby's 2 month vaccines privately for this reason. Cost a bunch but we decided to go that route. Alternatively I've known people who waited and didn't do it exactly at the 2 month mark. BTW to get your baby's visa across the counter, its possible to go to DNRD and submit it yourself (you or your husband depending on who the sponsor is). My husbands PRO told him that (if the PROs do it it takes a lot longer apparently). So he went and submitted the papers himself at about 7 one evening and was out for there, with the stamped visa, by 8!

Just wanted to post an update for people looking for the information in the future: 1. Got the card done at Rashid. Turns out even if you apply online you need to go there with a photo and the documents to activate. Its really only the payment that appears to be online. We had to actually go to accounts, get it activated and then go to the card section and collect it. Not too hard but parking was a nightmare. 2. Documents needed are tenancy contract/dewa bill. Proof of visa and ID. Photograph. Payment or proof of online payment (the receipt you get). 3. To make the appointment, you need to go with pretty much the same documents (primarily the proof of residence) to the clinic nearest to your area. Look online for the catchment areas. 4. Once the appointment is booked you get reminders etc 5. Visit there was great. One person ahead of us for an 8am appointment. They took a full history and gave us a card that you need to bring each time. We were in and out in 50 minutes including the full first time history and registration. They even booked our next appointment before we left. (This was Al Safa) Just one bit of additional info about the vaccines. They don't do the Rotavirus one at the government clinics. But they want you to get it done in private (?!). So you need to time it correctly. The lady at the clinic said either within 24 hours of the vaccines (something to do with them doing the polio one as an oral administration rather than a shot) or after a month, with a month between that and the next dose. Dr Syed Rais Ahmed our paed only gave us the after a month option so we're going with that. Ok... thats all I have :) Thanks a ton ladies who helped me get this sorted. Its a great option.

You will have to go the health clinic that is designated for your residential area...you can get tht from the site or by calling 800DHA. As i mentioned, just take your payment receipt. We havn't collected LO's card yet, but have registered at the al mankhool clinic. From previous posters, i think safa is a good choice... Great. Thanks. We are in Jumeirah 3 so it is one of the areas covered. Will take paperwork and go get an appointment!

Tarana thanks... sorry i wasn't clear. Your first email is the answer i was looking for. I did actually apply and pay 110 online. Just didn't get anything other than a payment receipt. To give you more detail, when I log in and check status, it says healthcard 'pending'. I guess I'll just take the paperwork and picture and go to Rashid like you and Anon say. Can I just ask, when you made the appointment, how did you guys do it? I was looking to get it at the one in Safa (between Al Wasl and Jumeirah Beach Road). Should I go there?

I just re-read your qs and guess i need to elaborate on the online process: once you get your patient id, you register on the site and then apply for a health card under e services.

susandiaz, i applied online and was able to procure an appt at the clinic based on the payment receipt. But they've asked me to go to al wasl/rashid/dubai hospital to collect the card before the appt date. You'll have to carry a photo. Timings are 8am to 2pm, only weekdays.

I've heard that one can now apply for a HC online. Has anybody tried that? Yes, through the Dubai Hospital site. U need passport copy, visa copy, photo and to pay the fee of 110 I think was it.. mpp or anon... any help would be appreciated... I applied online since it seemed the easier choice at the time (anon i know you said to go to Rashid but being an internet person i figured this was brilliant :(). Did it towards the end of November. Got a patient ID number but no next steps. Any idea on what i need to do now? Called the call centre - absolutely no help, they asked me to call Dubai Hospital who put me on hold to get to the right department and I haven't got through after several tries. So was hoping one of you ladies can help. Hi Susan. I'm sorry but I don't know about the online procedure. My opinion is that you should go to your nearest government clinic and explain to them what happened. Your patient ID number may be your temporary health card. In order to turn it into a permanent card, you'd need to submit a picture. I find that it is impossible to do these kinds of things over the phone if you don't speak Arabic.

There are 2 different cards? Excellent just when I thought I'd figured it out :D. The clinic near safa is the closest to us. Can you go to any one of the clinics on either card or only on the MOH one? You can only use the Ministry of Health card within their network of clinics/hospitals. See their website http://www.moh.gov.ae/en/About/Pages/ServiceProviders.aspx. All Ittihad/Etihad (sp?) is somewhere in the list. Its the clinic near Safa gate 4 not the one that is between Al Wasl and Jumeirah roads. Hubby went to Al Baraha to get the health card instead of Al Bada thats how we ended up with this card instead.

DH made a mistake and took out the MOH card instead of the Dubai Health card but it worked out fine in the end. We did all DD's immunizations at Al Ittihad clinic near Safa Park. Its never full. We would just walk in and wait for 5 minutes while they found her card and sent us in. Whole process would never be more than 20 minutes. I will definitely take out the MOH health card for the second LO. There are 2 different cards? Excellent just when I thought I'd figured it out :D. The clinic near safa is the closest to us. Hi, have any moms gotten their kids immunized at a government clinic in Dubai? Was the staff child-friendly and did you get the appointments on time? Or is it better to go to a private clinic? Hi, I got my LO vaccinations in Al Khaleej Clinic and it was very friendly, the appointments are very flexible and on time, your LO is getting a present after, it is free, they send you sms for the appointment and so on.... u will need to register in the clinic of your area with your tenancy contract copy and HC for your LO. the HC can be done online on Dubai Hospital site. it was very easy and same as the private clinics, just for free :) just note that the vaccines are according to UAE standards, not Europe or US, so if you want to follow your system you'll have to pay little extra for the extra vaccine. I did it in the same clinic and paid 100. hope this helps :)
