I am 16 weeks now with baby number 3! Feeling better sickness-wise - but putting on the pounds at a rate of knots, even though I am being as careful as possible.... Although technically, baby is not due until Aug 9, I will be having a c-section in the last week of July - so I guess that sort of makes me part of the club. Is anyone delivering at Al Wasl (now Latifa?) I'd love a surgeon recommendation. Also, in terms of waterbirth, the Cromwell Women and Children's hospital in Al Ain do them - for the bargainous sum of Dhs3,500 a pop! It's a bit of a drive from Dubai though - espeically if you're in labour! :)

Rest and medication help too, the doctor was a bit hesitant to start with medication right away as once you take it i need to continue for the rest of the pregnancy. By the way I ended up going to Dr. Munira as Dr. Grace was away, you were right she is AMAZING such a shame that she doesnt deliver though. We will try to see the gender in the next appointment in a week and half if the baby is co-operative enough :)

Oh nooooo Sami :( Little Madame tried to play tricks with us too, but we finally managed to get a good view! She was hiding behind the placenta though, so we could not get a very good 4D picture! Have you scheduled another appointment just to check the gender again? So sorry to hear about the hypertension! Anything apart from salt that keeps it under control?

It's another GIRL for us!!! :D It honestly is a dream come true! I don't have sisters, and spent most of my childhood wishing I had a sister! I almost cannot believe my wish is coming true and with them being so close together, my last wish is that they grow up to be the bestest of friends :P Congratulations!!! We had the 20 week scan on Saturday and although we really wanted to find out the *** the baby had other plans and just wouldnt uncross the legs. Tried different positions for 15 minutes but its a stubborn little thing like its father so we are still on Team Green. Unfortunately I have now been diagnosed with gestational hypertension and been advised to rest and take it easy and try to cut additional salt from my food. Not very fun as all i seem to be craving is salty food. Hope all the other ladies are doing well.

All going well here and looking forward to meeting you all! Congratulations to all new joiners of July group!!! Hope everyone is well. With friends in and out of our place this pregnancy is going fast Don't have time to think about it almost at all which is good. 20 weeks scan soon and hoping to get the confirmation for the PINK team. Doctor seemed pretty sure last time but I keep having dreams about a scan when I am told that she was wrong...Fingers crossed No big kicks yet but he butterfly feeling is getting stronger by day. Soon there I'm sure. It is a lovely feeling. Tonsilitis ouchhhh Sorry plumie I hope both you and your DD get well soon. Listen to your dr about having them removed I had consecutive ones as well few years back and because I kept postponing my body got used with the medication I was taking Plus by the time I decided to take them out they were too damaged and local anesthesy didn't work very well Not fun in that stage I'm sure it's not your case

Hellooooo July Mamma's!!! How is everyone doing? For the 3rd time this pregnancy i have come down with Tonsillitis :/: Not a happy chappy at all!!! And DD with an ear and throat infection :( And of course - DH IS AWAY!!! Aaarrrggghhh why do these things always happen when you are flying solo!?!? Is anyone else's immune system totally **** with a second pregnancy? Dr advised me to have them removed as soon as baby is born as once you have Tonsillitis consecutively, its best to take them out! Apart from that - i'm getting loads of kicks and it is simply wonderful (bet i wont be saying that in a few months time ;) )! Anyone else felt their first kicks yet? Its one of the most significant milestones during pregnancy and for a while only you will be able to feel it! Whenever DH tried to feel DD kicking in the early stages, she would go all still - was really funny but also very frustrating for him! Welcome gem6065! Home Births are a no-no here unfortunately :( Think there have been a few threads on that topic before, so just do a search on the forum, and i'm sure you will find out the exact reason as to why it is not performed here! Check your in-boxes soon ladies for the next meet up! Break the silence and please update everyone :D

hi there, i've just joined the site as we are expecting to be moving to Abu Dhabi at the end of March due to hubby's work (although not that far away we still dont have an exact date-v frustrating) im 18 weeks with 3rd baby but feeling bit odd about the unknown that is new country and all that comes with it, never mind choosing hospital/doctor etc. with my last 2 pregnancies everything has been straight forward and i have been midwife led care only. id wanted water birth last time but couldnt have one due to meconium (baby poop) in waters when they broke.....i've noticed nobody on these sites have mentioned water births....is this something that doesnt happen out there (or home births?) god i have sooooooo many questions......

Yogachezzars - that's not far from me :) How long is your class? I have just started my DD at nursery and currently collecting her at 11:45-12pm...eventually 12:30, so maybe in the future I will join as I think I will be cutting it close with her timings! KiranB - it can be very daunting - new country, just pregnant, no friends :( On Friday I had some of the July Mums over for cake 'n tea, and we hope to meet up often, so if you are interested drop me a mail on [email protected] and I can invite you to the next meet up?! X

Yoga sounds good...where can I get more information about this? I'll be travelling back to London in May to give birth in July. Unfortunately I don't have medical insurance so its cost us about 600 AED each visit and then the birth will be different altogether. We're fine financially but i'd rather save the money for when my baby is actually born.

So lovely to see that so many of us are giving birth in Dubai's hot July! I am due 18th July and feeling great now at 17 weeks after a long bout of morning (all day) sickness! If anyone is about on a Tuesday at 10.45, I teach a prenatal yoga class at Zen Yoga's Emirates Hills Springs Town Centre. Would be lovely to flow with some fellow July mammas! Cheryl x

Hey Plumie, Thanks, Im only 14 weeks yet so no kicks for me, My due date is July 27th I have signed on to a website, Baby Centre, I recommend it to everyone....I get weekly updates and advice, I signed on when i wasn't too sure how far along i was so i've got updates for week 16. I've copied pasted a section that was emailed to me below. "Your baby's about the size of an avocado by now. In the next three weeks, he'll go through a tremendous growth spurt. He'll double his weight and increase his length. In the meantime, he'll be playing with his umbilical cord and practising breathing. You're going through a bit of a growth spurt yourself. Your uterus has expanded so much that the ligaments in your belly are stretching to make room for it. If you feel any twinges of pain now, that's why".....it then gives you the optin to sign on and read more about the week Food is a major issue, I can't cook meat or tomatoes at all and when I do, the throwing up begins. I can only eat meat if its ordered (As i can't see it being cooked) and I hate that as i'm worried i'm only going to put on the weight :( Overall I don't think i'm doing too bad, my only concern is my lack of exercise. As I found out i was pregnant as soon as i moved here I never got a chance to look for work or get to know people and now i'm a housewife and only leave my apartment with my husband during the weekend. I'm too scared to go out alone as i don't know the place well and I get dizzy quiet often. I do as much as I can on the Wii.

Welcome KiranB and congrats on the pregnancy :) I think a one of two of the girls are at American and a few others at City! Both hospitals have good reviews so either way you are in good hands! The food aversions are pretty normal, I had it really bad during my first pregnancy, and YES is does make it very difficult to eat anything! I remember ordering food in restuarants, sounds nice on the menu and then when it arrives - NOPE can't eat it and poor hubby would have to swap meals ;) How far long are you? If you are 16+ weeks you could well be feeling those first kicks! Very much feels like butterflies or popcorn popping :) And yes - the uterus expanding can ne confused for kicks and vice versa! I'm 18 weeks and have felt a few kicks already! But this is my second pregnancy so I can distinguish between wind, tightening of the uterus and feet kicking away! Lying down, drinking something hot, eating something sweet or drinking something really cold could get baby moving and you could well feel your first kick! Aside from that I am feeling really good and seemed to have gotten over the worst of the flu bug! Acupuncture has been helping with my sleep tremendously and the nightmares seems to have calm down...to an extent! Hope everyone else is well x

Hi Ladies, I'm very new to this...still getting the hang of it. I moved to Dubai in November after my husband and I got married in October. We found out we were pregnant more or less straight away. Although we are both very excited it is very stressful as i am totally alone, new to the country and this is my first pregnancy. Thankfully my scans have been successful and the baby seems to be doing fine, it was a wonderful experience. We go to the American Hospital, does anyone else go there? Luckily I don't suffer morning sickness at all however my sense of smell has gone totally wild, its distracting me from eating properly which tends to put me in mood swings. My poor husband has to deal with it, but he handles it well. I'm sorry to hear some of you are unwell, hope you all get well soon. I'm suffering from really bad headaches which sometimes prevent me from getting out of bed all together :( I sometimes feel like i can feel kicks but i know the baby is too small for me to feel it, Dr confirmed it is only 8cm. what i'm feeling is my uterus growing, disturbs me so much at night....does anyone else get this feeling?

Hi ladies, I am rotten with the flu :( Just krept up on Tuesday night and hit me like a ton of bricks when I woke on Wednesday morning! Have not been this sick in ages, and with not much us pregnant Mums can take...I am suffering!!! Saw Dr Elsa yesterday and she tried to check the gender, but the little one had the umbilical cord between the legs! I told her to only tell me if she could guess 99%, otherwise we will wait to find out at the anomaly scan in 3 weeks time! Oh - and I felt the first kicks already :) Depends how I am laying and it's normally at night! It would not surprise me, as it looks like this little Monster has inherited his/her fathers long legs & feet ;) Will write more and reply to all the mails as soon as I can keep my head up for longer than 10minutes :/: X

Glad everyone's 12 weeks scan goes well. Hope some of you get better sleep. Mine is not great but I keep thinking it's second semester and things may go downhill from here later on so trying to cope with it. I'm 17 weeks and the doctor didn't mentioned any percentage about how sure it is but really hope it gets confirmed next scan as now we are really excited Of course we know it doesn't really matter once the baby is in your arms but one boy and one girl sounds great on the paper plus the girls outfits are ever so cute!!!

Megs, glad to hear your scan went well! Crazy to think how much its moving around and we still cant feel a thing yet! Glad to hear it wasnt just my hubby that thought our baby looked like an "Alien" then! Im sleeping ok but then have to get up at least once or twice in the night to go pee. Grrr!! Oh well, its better than it was a couple of weeks ago when i seemed to briefly wake up every single time i turned over in bed (which seemed to be a heck of a lot!). Good to see everyone's getting on pretty well tho! :)

ooh Plumie just sent you a mail about the meetup, just saw this now as I have been swamped with work. As for the update I have been having difficulty sleeping properly in the night, used to sleep on my stomach before and feel uncomfortable trying to sleep on the sides now. I have my next appointment at 19 weeks so will definately find out the *** then, i do have a very strong feeling that its a boy but I could be wrong, I would be happy with a girl or boy.

Hi everyone Had my 12th week scan ystday :) all's well.. saw the baby moving and he/she is an active one.. wondering what the coming months are going to be like. hands were moving all the time and he/she kept turning.. luckily the doc got the measurements for the down's syndrome test and the rest of the measurements. looks like we are on track... my hubby's first comment when we left the doc's office.. baby looks like an alien.. so now he has named our lil one.. baby alien... really he is NOT going to be in charge of naming our baby! doc's asked me to continue metaformin, and added calcium and pregnacare multi-vitamins to my list of tabs.. and back at 16th week for the next check. waiting for the blood work and double marker results to come back on Thurs. that's my update for now :) Megs

Check your inboxes ladies :D How do i do it - my waistline can answer to that! Lost of sugar intake to get me through the day and DD is cutting her molars, so nights are awfully eventful in our house ;) Ive only been for 1 session so far, so can't tell yet! Lay night I dreamt I stabbed someone with one of my kitchen knives and this i dreamt after 5am as I was up with DD until about 5:30am! So woke up in a frenzy as to why I would dream such a thing?! I am sleeping more solid and seem to be more relaxed during the day though! Meant to have 2 sessions a week, but could probably only squeeze in 1 at the moment! I'm seeing Dr Elsa on wednesday and she will check for gender! I'm 17 weeks so high possibility we could find out! Part of me wants to wait until 20 weeks as then it is 99.9% confirmed but another part is dying to my suspicion confirmed - that it's a boy!!! I had a very strong instinct with DD and she turned out to be a girl...so who knows ;) Congrats on Team Pink Pancakemum - yay!!!

Congrats Pancake! Pink team is sooo exciting!! Blue team would also be exciting too but was in some shops at the weekend being obsessed with all the gorgeous little dresses they have!! How many weeks are you now?? At our NT scan, the Dr said that from the scan he reckons its 90% we're on the pink team too, but apparently the heart rate was quite low which indicates more towards blue team - so could still go either way! (maybe its a boy with a teenie weenie little wiener!! ;) ) We're happy whichever way it goes - same same but different, right?! ;) Plumie, hope the acupuncture helps! i have NO idea how you're coping with such rubbish sleep! Think i would just be pure evil by now!! Hats off to you but hope it sorts itself out soon! Hope to meet some of you soon! Plumie - will send you an email! Thanks for organising!! :)

Plumie hope the acupuncture will work for you to be able to enjoy a good night sleep. It's so important to have proper rest... Hope everyone else is fine as well. Let us know ladies. Had a dr appointment today and she offered do to a scan to check if blue or pink team and apparently is pink team this time. So so so happy about it! Already thinking how much blue she will wear from DS's wardrobe! Looking forward to meet the other mums.
