Was scheduled to see Dr Pankaj........

tomorrow but received a last minute phone call cancelling our appointment late this afternoon. We're gutted, having waited just over 3 months for the appointment. My DH starts his new job next week and is unlikely to get time off anytime soon so their promise to re-schedule doesn't really make me feel much better. I don't know whether to call them tomorrow to ask if they can slot us in on Sunday (as DH doesn't start till Monday), or to wait until Saturday to see what they offer us. Nothing it seems, ever goes to plan in Dubai or, indeed Sharjah.

Hi, I am new to this forum! I have been with Dr P 4 years ago and did iui, was successful after third attempt! I went back last year to start again but found the clinic very busy and felt was on a conveyor belt of scans, med etc...but never got to speak to P! I left the clinic and went to Dr Wael in DGFC , he was very nice and did 3cycles of ICSI with him but sadly was unsuccessful, so now I am going to try Dr Fakih, I have had an appointment with him and found him very good, yes very positive!!!! I am wondering if anyone has done his shared risk programme??? Or any success stories with him? I am due to start a treatment in September!

I know that concieve was mega busy last weeks as I was there a few times for scans, the main thing I love about Dr Pankaj is his honesty, he wont waste your time and money if he doesnt honestly feel that he can get you pregnant.

Hey Annan, I am hoping all goes well with you. I was with Dr. F and am a success story so far. I have never been let down by the team there and if he needs to be there, he's there. sorry you had a blip with the first appt. I think I got lucky b/c when i called the first time, they asked me to come in and meet him the next day. Also of note, he works in his AD clinic and travels to USA too, which may be the reason for the wacked out schedule, but it was never a problem for me. Also Dr. Fatin, the other doc there is a wonderful lady. Smart and on point. I dont know how much of the 75% rate is actually true and what factors its based on but as of right now, my rate is 100% for IVF, 0% for IUI. But that could just be me ;) Best of luck and hope all goes well. ***btw-I never like CClinic because they dont seem to have time for their pts., maybe this is a good sign. ***

Hi Nickym1d, my DH and I saw Dr F yesterday for the first time. We found him and his team really approachable and incredibly positive. In a previous post, one of the other ladies said she felt that he might be too positive though. I'm not sure, but I think his positivity probably stems from the success he's had to date (75% for ICSI at the moment). As a nurse on a busy cardio-thoracic ward, I cared for many patients following heart bypass surgery and saw so many of them go home, that I began to think it was the norm. Hence, when it came time for my gran to have her op, I took it for granted that she'd be fine and unfortuntely, that wasn't the case. I guess what I'm saying is, I really want to latch onto Dr F's immense positivity, but there's a voice in the back of my head telling me not to count my chickens just yet. As far as Dr P goes, I really can't say as we've been put on the waiting list for his (yet to be liscenced) Friday sessions. We'll probably opt for Dr F: for us, the clinic is more conveniently located; the price of treatment is 28,000dhs (and that, as far as I'm aware, includes meds, the lot), and, mof course, his success rate is hard to ignore. If all goes to plan, we'll begin our IVF journey in September.

Thanks everyone. Conceive didn't offer any explanation as to why the appointment was cancelled. Dr Fakih's Clinic were supposed to call yesterday regarding an appointment, but at 2.30 (having been told they close at 3pm on a Thursday) I gave in and called them. They now say they'll call today as Dr Fakih only schedules appointments 1 day in advance?! If this is the case, they were never going to be able to confirm our Saturday appointment on Thursday, so I'm not sure why they arranged to call then. I'm hoping this is a minor blip and that they'll call today as planned. Am crossing everything and waiting as patiently as possible.

Good luck - both my two were conceived through IVF with Dr Wael in DGFC - he is excellent - maybe worth trying for an appt with him...

I am very surprised that they cancelled...what reason did they give you? I had Conceive and they always called when they said they would and no appointments were cancelled. I hope it all works out for the best...good luck...

How disappointing. Did they give you a good reason why they cancelled on you? That's so unfair on you, especially when you've waited so long. Fingers crossed you manage to get sorted with an appointment at one of the two clinics soon. And lots of baby dust coming your way! :)

I can only imagine how frustrating that must be for you. Rubbish. I have been with Dr. Fakih for 3 cycles and have to say they always call when they say they will and I have never had a problem getting an appointment. Good luck.

Hi DubaiCat, phoned the clinic this morning only to be told that we'd been put on the "Friday" waiting list - they haven't even been granted permission to operate on a Friday yet! Not only that, they said that they were expecting to hear from the Ministery within the next 2 weeks - month! With this in mind, I have to ask, how on earth did she think she'd be able to phone me back at the start of next week with a new appointment?! We're gutted as Dr Pankaj was our first choice, but this has really put us off. We're now waiting to hear from Dr Fakih - fingers crossed his clinic call us back on Thursday as promised.
