Hey I agree with the apple cider vinegar suggestion. My friend told me she did this. She initially went to a derma who asked her for AED 950 just to remove the wart and after the treatment, she shouldn't wash her finger for 3 days. So she just Googled and found the apple cider vinegar suggestion and after a month, it was gone, and no black marks at all.

I would say best is to try homopathethic medication. They cure skin ailments from the root.

Really surprised that no one here has suggested this: Every night, before you go to sleep, soak a small piece of cotton to apple cider vinegar and tape it to the wart. That's it! I just use band aid plasters to tape it. When I had a wart on my finger, I just did it every other night cos I was too lazy but it worked!!! It's fast, easy and convenient! The wart on my finer was gone in less than three weeks.

Rubbing on of crushed garlic is also said to help. edited by crystalsindubai on 16/08/2011 edited by crystalsindubai on 16/08/2011

Hey I did this on my sons verrucca, after trying over the counter products to no avail. Lo and behold a week later the verrucca was gone! I thought it was just an old wives tale but it definitely works.

Update on the wart for anyone interested! I have been trying the banana skin under a plaster and...it's working! It's getting smaller and I rub every day with an emery board before I replace the skin. So, there you go - expensive bananas work ;)

Ok, this is horrible - I have a wart on my finger that I can't get rid of and it's driving me crazy. I've been trying to freeze dry it off using something I got from the chemist but it's not working. Any other suggestions? My five-year-old has had one on his hand for over a year. My FIL, who's a GP, said warts have a shelf life and eventually die - but it's still hanging on. I don;'t want to get it frozen off, as he;'s only little and it will hurt. Plus, the caustic pencils make them go all black and horrible, and very often still don't work. I'll try the plaster approach - and then the washing powder and banana skin thing. And is they don't work, perhaps all three at ones will :) Thanks for the suggestions. Glad I clicked on this forum today.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions - I am going to attempt some/all of them to get rid of this thing once and for all!

The best treatment I found for a verucca I had was zinc plaster. Maybe this will work for an ordinary wart? Simply wrap the zinc plaster on the wart and leave as long as possible. Replace when necessary. Doesn't look very pretty as it seems to 'kill' the skin around the wart. Eventually, when you pull the plaster away, the wart comes away with it.

Hi I don't post much but I'd like to suggest a visit to a homeopath. Through referral for molloscum on this forum we tried Brenda at Dubai herbal treatment centre and within 1 month one dd who had them quite badly has almost all cleared up and the other one definitely improving. She explained that it is due to an immunity imbalance. Initially the treatment was discovered when treating people for hormone imbalances and in the study those that had warts actually had their warts disappear. Worth a try. She is lovely and after having my older son with molluscum and having them burnt off the more natural approach appealed to me and I'm very impressed. Sorry for grammar on iphone.

A suggested treatment is to wrap the wart firmly in a band-aid and keep it continually covered for several days, and then check again and re-wrap if need be. Warts need oxygen and will start to shrink once they are covered. If this doesn't work then head to the Dr for burning off. HTH. Have used this before myself on a hand wart years ago. edited by SJAussie on 29/06/2011

I had one on my finger that refused to go away and someone told me to put clothes powder on it (not the liquid and it was before non bio). Worked a treat, opened it up and then it dies. I'll try anything!

Best thing to do is get a GP sort it out for you with the freeze dry thing. If it doesn't go the first time round, go for a repeat treatment the second it appears. Should be sorted then. yes, this is what my Brother had to do! Good luck!

Banana skins.... lol i feel for you Lesley - our teen suffers from them and has done for years - he's even had them infected. Our UK GP used to freeze them off with a little can of something (probably the same as you buy over the counter lol), but they always came back eventually.. Took him to our GP here and he brought out a spray thing 10 times the size of the UK lol. Took a few attempts over a few weeks but he is finally free of them.. The trick was to go back to docs for another treatment the second they reappeared..
