Ok so i went with DH on Friday night, anticipation was high as we had not been able to get a table last weekend. Food was very nice but the service leaves a lot to be desired, from sitting down to main course we waited 70 mins, what made it worse was the two tables eitherside of us had starters, mains, desserts and the bill in that time? When the food did arrive it was very nice, you really can pick as much as you want from the menu. We had 3 starters, 4 main dishes, rice, naan and 3 deserts. As well as using the Entertainer voucher we chanced our arm in presenting our Sirius card and got another 20% off! So we had all that food for 180aed, plus drinks. Deffo worth a look with the voucher, would i hurry back...no.

Booked for next friday but while downloading the voucher it said not valid on "Public holidays". Does that mean it wont be valid on Thursday, Friday either. Anyone been there over the weekend and used the vouchers? Thanks!

Last night I visited the Zabeel Saray. I was impressed about the hotel but if you will take a deeper look you see the quality of finishing isnt perfect. All employees where very friendly, helpful but I wasn’t impressed about Amala. My resume: Food: Starter (Scallop and Lady Finger), Soup – where fine Main dishes (Curries ok, Butter Chicken – average, Tandorri – wonderful), Bread – old and tasteless, Briyani – ok Dessert – very good Service: Service was ok, I got twice a menu with dirty pages (green curry and fatty finger prints of the previous guest was clearly shown). After I told our waiter to exchange it. He commented my wish – I wasn’t expecting something like that! Mostly all bowls out of the kitchen where downside fatty or full with curry. Other guests: Amala’s dress code is smart casual and while my reservation I got instruction what isnt allowed (open shoes, T-Shirts, etc). I was quiet surprised that almost 80% of the guests didn’t obey this rule. Their dressed in “beachdress code” with shorts, flip flop and tank top. One family brought, the plastic bags of the supermarket shopping with them. :\: All in all I cant recommend the restaurant. If you are interested in the hotel and you don’t care about others around you, than is ok. For me I will not return. <em>edited by Gege_DXB on 17/08/2011</em>

Young and trendy so went home and played 80's on the laptop with hubby as "DJ Amore" and me as drinks supplier/waitress!! <em>edited by captainjacky on 15/08/2011</em>

i liked the interior, the pool and beach area also lovely. standard of finish in rooms not great - comedy moment where the two separate shower taps came off in my hands! however i thought the service was absolutely shocking.

I'm very surprised about the positive reviews of the hotel here. I love the Jumeirah properties, esp. Al Qasr and Mina Al Salam- they're tasteful, everything fits and it's pure luxury. Zabeel Saray however is such a design disaster and wanna-be nouveau riche place that I really couldn't believe it to be a Jumeirah project. Nothing fits together, the colors in the lobby are clashing but not in a positive way, there's no common design pattern. Worst is the breakfast restaurant - a cheap knock-off combination of wanna-be Versailles (mirrors) and Roman Palace with absolutely no taste at all. Vases that look as if they were bought for 2 AED in Karama on the tables clash with supermodern black and white salt and pepper combination which again don't fit the "old" theme that the restaurant is desperately trying to pull off. It's awful, I was so disappointed. I took a friend there for breakfast, thinking it would be like the other Jumeirah properties and I was so embarassed when we walked in... The pool area/ outside terrace looks nice, but inside the cobalt blue lights in the hallway which don't accentuate anything but just add to the confused style and esp. the faked fresco painting on top of the stairs just look pitiful. Can't fault the service, as always with Jumeirah, and I'm very much looking forward to the opening of the new Vietnamese-French colonial restaurant which sounds great from a cuisine-perspective. But in terms of design, colors, attention to detail in its presentation this hotel is absolutely at the bottom of the 5-stars in Dubai. Sorry you feel that way... I personally thought it was stunning...From the entrance to the lobby to the reastaurants. I must admit I had not heard of this hotel before but after visiting, I would have no quelms about reccommending it. Am not a "designer" or an architect..But I really thought it was beautiful...And have been here a while and have seen lots of "beautiful" hotels...Maybe its just me!

Had a lovely meal ... the staff were great and very helpful and attentive ... the hotel is very 'Jumeirah' (water features reminded me of Burj Al Arab, decor more Al Qasr) ... the food was very good we had ... Starters Potato cakes Scallops (not overcooked and served with a smear of sauce) Murgh kathi kebab Tomato / Cumin Soup Mains Goan Prawn Curry (a little salty but we did end up ordering two, so can't be too bad) Butter Chicken Quail (was on the bone in sauce, very good) Chicken (tandoor) Roasted aubergine curry Dal Pilau Rice (excellent - all agreed was excellent) Naans Desserts Pistacio and cardoman icecream Saffron pineapple with vanilla icecream Fruit platter The restaurant was quite busy - counted between 15-20 tables of people, so gave it a bit of atmosphere. The waiter offered to bring us a selection of everything (!) to show what the restaurant could do, but we declined just picking dishes we wanted (you can only eat sooo much). However when we got to desert, even though we only picked one dessert each quantity wise, two desserts each were brought so we all could try more! Although some of the dishes were presented in a modern way (the scallops and potato starters for example), I don't think they were trying to stray to far from traditional dishes in the taste etc. Only 'downside' is the distance you have to travel around the crescent to get there ... but that's only a minor thing. After dinner we went for a cheeky cocktail in Voda Bar where the husbands had fun in the silly pod-like seats. Nice night out :-) Have to agree on all accounts assisi... We had a lovely evening. Your "review" was much more indepth than anything I could muster up, so I left it to you! Service was fab...Not too in your face but very attentive. Food amazing and we thought the restaurant was great...A brilliant ambiance. Shame it's such a long way down the crescent but I guess Jumeirah were hoping that all the half finished buildings would be open too! I was VERY impressed and will return..... Thanks for the heads up last week and to any of you who have booked...Sure you will love it...Enjoy. x

The Entertainer voucher is obviously working! We tried to book yesterday and earliest table was 10:30pm and now tried again this morning and tonight the earliest is 10pm! DH is not impressed as I just read out Assisi's review. Have to try next weekend but the tip appears to be 'book early'!

Sounds devine! Will definitely have to give this a try. Went to the (much talked about) Turkish restaurant there and was extremely disappointed so glad that the Indian restaurant is something worth going back for. The lobby decor and atmosphere is amazing!

When I booked the really nice, helpful lady (She was lovely) said food starts at 7pm and drinks available from 8pm. So I booked for 7 as, like you, i've not eaten all day for the same reason! Oh and she said long trousers, closed shoes and a collared shirt for guys. Enjoy!

Lakshmi the website says it is Northern Indian with a contemporary twist, but the menu is available to view on their website. Twokids - drinks are extra. queenbee - I will post up review, probably not tonight, probably tomorrow. Husband and I are going with another couple and we're all really looking forward to it :-) ... I've eaten hardly anything all day in preparation ;-) <em>edited by assisi on 11/08/2011</em>

To anybody who's been: is it like 'normal' Indian food? or fancy like at Indego in GHH? I like the sound of Amala but not if it's anything like Indego. Thanks

I wouldn't go all the way to Atlantis! When you exit the tunnel your turn to Atlantis would be right (i.e. Crescent east) but to get to the Zabeel Saray you should take the Crescent west direction (which takes you straight away over a flyover). It's fairly way down towards the end of the crescent. Have a lovely dinner! It's a magical place...

Don't worry - found a map on their factsheet - looks like you go all the way down to The Atlantis and then turn left to go all the way round the crescent.

Off to the new Jumeirah place on the palm tonight for some excellent Entertainer Voucher action at their Indian restaurant Amala :) (fyi works out at 225 Aed per couple all you can eat a la carte, plus drinks :-)). Anyone have any directions on the Palm to this new place? Or is it signposted? Thanks :-) <em>edited by assisi on 11/08/2011</em>
