Hi, I am a Canadian/Australian who will be visiting Dubai for a very short time on my way to Africa safari. I only have Friday morning available and wanted to go to a patchwork fabric shop (one of my passions, collecting fabric from all around the world for my projects!). The only one I could find on a google search is closed Fridays. Any suggestions? I am looking specifically for quilting cottons, not general dress fabric shops. And if you have some store suggestions, what would be the easiest way to get there from the Sheraton? Thank you! (PS - I am also doing a Dubai tour, so not just going shopping TEE HEE!).

The Burda Magazine (with patterns) is also now available in the UAE and is printed in both English and Arabic. You can find it at Borders and at Craft Land.

Craft Land is the only place I've seen patterns...but they are a bit pricey. I have been going to www.sewingpatterns.com and printing them out. The only thing about that is they each take about 60 pages of A4 paper and then you have to cut and tape them together. It's a bit of work...but for only about 99 US cents each I think it's worth it.

For patterns, if you go onto McCalls, Vogue etc websites, you can subscribe - they send you an email every week of their 'pattern of the week' which is normally about $2.99US. Then they have sales as well - you can set up a shop/ship account and have them here within a week - last order for me was about 41dhms and that was for 3 or 4 patterns.

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone knew where I can buy sewing patterns from in Dubai/Sharjah/Ajman (anywhere else nearby :P) Also, are there any actual craft stores? I know one store in Satwa sells some crafty products and I buy some random things from Magrudy's in DFC and in Jumeria... but that's about all I know of. I make costumes so sometimes I need things like accessories and what not. I really wish there was a store like Spotlight or Lincraft here (Aussies will know what I'm on about) Thank you very much in advance! <3
