I am sure this has been asked before, but can anyone shed any light on what is the normal class size for schools out here? Are they mostly the same? This is with reference to early years age (FS1, FS2, KG1, KG2, Year 1, Year2). Do you think it makes a huge difference at this stage? I am particulary interested in schools such as Jebel Ali, Regent, Raffles, Safa, DIA etc.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I have three at Regent. DS1 in Y4 has 18 (max. 25 with part time TA), DS2 in Y2 has 23 (max. 25 with full time TA) and DS3 in FS2 has 18 (max. 20 with full time TA). Kids very happy and developing well both academically and socially which of course keeps me happy! HTH

Royal Dubai School has a maximum of 19 in FS 2, which includes one teacher, one teaching assistant, and one part-time uneducated helper. I am happy with those numbers. It the same in FS 1 except the uneducated helper is in the class full-time. edited by AnonDubai on 29/02/2012 ANONDUBAI @ for how long your kids been in Royal Dubai ?? do you like it ?? we saw it and loved it ....was wondering is it even good on a regular basis?? our duaghter would join FS2 if she does... this month! Hi MK! I have one DD who started at RDS in FS 1. She is now in FS 2. My other DD is starting FS 1 there in September. I am very happy with the school. My only gripe is about the swimming pool situation.

If the class sizes get bigger as you go up a school and the qualified assistant to child ratio decreases, why do the fees increase? hahhaha GOOD POINT CHEWIT >>.LOL!!!!!!

I think most schools are between 25-28. Not in the schools that I have / would use. Way too many. 21 max. with teacher and para (and not an uneducated helper) I saidmost schools, not the one I "use". how would anyone know 'most' ? and so far there have been several posts stating the contrary and none in support. The fact is that Repton, Jess, japs and and and ....the other schools that are talked about on here are not MOST schools in Dubai!

Are we talking about the class size the promise when they take your application cash or the class size that your child turns up to on the first day? ha, we must be at the same school  I think my DS must be in that school too :(

Safa is 24 and Jess is 22 Some in Jess are only 19, especially early years. Really? JESS Jumeirah is 22 per class including early years, any children who leave are quickly replaced. Really? They didn't used to be. Perhaps the demand has increased a lot over the last few years then.

I can only speak for ASD. For the lower grades, it is capped at 16-20, and that is with a teacher and a paraprofessional, giving a ratio no more than 1:10 at most. I do think it makes a big difference. 1:28 vs 1:10 - of course each child will get a LOT more individual attention.
