I would call. The municipality again. I've done this many times and at one point they closed the site next to me. Tell them you have children. Last time I did this was around new year. They sent a sound engineer within an hour to assess it.

Oh yes, I forgot, no freedom of speech. Great, can't wait until Ramadan. I can't go away for the summer either. The future looks bleak.:\:

you are not allowed to have any sort of petition or protest, then you will be the one in trouble with the police

There just seems to be too many ways around everything, which is just not right nor fair. I feel awful today because I've had such little sleep, and it's just awful to know noone gives two hoots about it, and this is all 'permitted' by the municipality. I'm waiting on information about the exact permits that have been granted, so I suppose once I have this I can then go to DM and ask for something to be done. Would a petition (from all the residents in my tower) have any impact do you think or would this just be a waste of my bleary eyed time? I think will have to call the police during the night, but if they have a night permit, will the police not just check for this and then do nothing? but the police will get them to turn it down etc. yes if they have the correct permits then there is nothing much you can do, but there are rules as i said they can only work between certain hours and maybe like in abu alternative fridays etc etc.

the only way to stop things like this is to call out the police but u can only do that in the middle of the night and then you have the hassle of trying to get them to come out and find you, then they will be told off and may not do it.

OMG, I cannot believe the noise AGAIN and on a Friday morning - this started a lot earlier than I am even posting right now. I have just called the Municipality to complain but they said between the hours of 7am - 8pm it's allowed. Really?? Is this the case? The construction is due to continue until September at least. They also work nights and apparently have night permits. I can't believe these permits were approved, when this construction is right next door to a residential tower. WTF?! Does anyone know the correct contact/course of action to complain? No one really seems to know or care and/or are apathetic due to the permits, but I can't function without the sleep and I feel I'm going steadily mad! Any pointers would be appreciated. TIA. i think in abu dhabi they are only allowed to work alternative fridays etc to give people a days rest, but some companies will have 2 different shifts to get around that

Thanks Sue R, I'm always on the lookout for different types/more effective earplugs, since OH and I started wearing them nightly when the noise started a few months back :(

If all else fails try Muffles ear plugs from Boots. They are soft malleable wax (one can be cut in half) and they will mould perfectly to your ear and you can ram them in. They will block the noise and are comfortable to wear. Adequate good quality sleep is the key to coping with most things life throws at you and sleep deprivation is a nightmare!! Good luck!
