Hi ladies.....I am looking for a bed wetting alarm and also Huggies pyjama pants. If anyone knows where I can find either of these or you see them on you travels could you please let me know. I have been looking but no luck so far :( Any handy tips to stop bed wetting also welcome although I am sure I have tried them all!! My little boy is 6 but keeps going through weeks on and off of being dry and he is getting very upset as he is a 'big boy' now. Tried lifting him in the night, cutting out drinks before bed, pee'ing before bedtime etc, trying to get him to hold the pee an extra minute or two before he goes now to strenghten his bladder......running out of ideas other than just accepting he will grow out of it and stop worrying!

Hiya, I didnt visit Dr Gary. as soon as my son turned 8 , bedwetting started to upset him and its never done that before. he would just get up with his wet clothes and go straight into the shower. It was like a morning routine for him and he was completly unphased. I dont know what made him suddenly realise that its not ' normal' to wet the bed but he would then hide his clothes and strip the bed ! we talked about it and he told me that he thinks that he is sitting on the toilet whilst he is dreaming but he isnt. I started to then reduce his fluid intake after 6.00 pm. he would have a wee before going to bed and I would then wake him and he would have a 2nd wee before I go to bed. at first he was very irratable but what I find now is before im going to bed, he is tossing and turning and wakes up himself and goes for a wee. we are in month 2 now and he is really proud of himself and so am i . I spoke to a retired doctor family friend in the UK and he told me that its completly normal and you just have to be really patient. if somnething works for one child it doesnt necessarily work for another so just be patient. Trick is to work with your child rather than get angry and upset because that will have a knock on effect on the child. If we go through Secondary nocturnal enuresis which is where after a long period of dry nights the child starts bedwetting again, I will consult Dr Gary. for the moment we are working on it and so far so good .. fingers crossed ! I didnt think anyone would be interested in the details !

Mushypeas, I wish you would update us completly. We still don't know if you visited Dr. Gary or what change you made before getting your one month of dry nights. This would be so useful for myself and other Moms out there who are still looking for solutions. Many Thanks

Mushypeas, thank God you're back! I'm so happy for your 30 days without an accedent! Would you mind replying to my pervious post? I have my 4/5 year old on good night nappies, since nothing else has worked for us, but I'm still searching for a better solution.I'd love to know what worked for you? Was it Doctor Gary ? Did you ever visit him? Many thanks and congrats on your success.

My DS is 5.5 and has been dry, with no accidents, since he was 3. He wet his bed last night and the night before. I freaked out and starting reading about bet wetting only to find this thread in the morning. I am now less worried. Thank you EW.

Mushypeas, my son is four and he has the same issue as your boy. He was dry from 2-3 years old and it suddenly started around 9 months ago, I've tried differant things, like not giving him liquids at night, and waking him up. It works for a while and then it starts again. I've been reading this thread and wondering did you try Dr. Gary? Did it work for you?

I was a regular bedwetter till the age of 13. Tried everything suggested here, finally found a urologis who said he would examine my bladder with a camera using a catheter under a general anaethsetic. Found nothing wrong, except my bladder was notably small. So he stretched it, not sure how, maybe inlflated it with air or something. I never had another incident. Maybe you could try this if you've tried everything else. It has an horrific effect on the self esteem.

My sons bedwetting hasnt improved ! we get 2 dry nights and the other 5 are wet. we do nothing differnt on the dry nights so there isnt a pattern ! grrrrrrr Probably the worst of it was the other day where he sleep walked into my bed and wet my bed ! I had urine all down the side of me and on the pillow too ! I didnt feel it but woke up because of the smell ! Having to change the bed and shower in the middle of the night when you have work the next day .. not good ! Urine soaked into the mattress ! Im now going to try Dr Gary.

Just started having no nappies at night and had several accidents (DS is three, just), seems like I should be more patient as I was going to put the nappies back on.

I wet the bed until I was 23, sometimes twice a night. They tried the reward charts, placebo pills, alarms and waking me up throughout the night but to no avail. In fact waking me disturbed my sleep to the extent I began sleep walking, just not to the toilet unfortunately. The only thing that worked for me was the Desmopressin but they wont prescribe these until they are at least 11 in the UK. They asked me to take a 6 week course and stop to see if it that would cure it. Unfortunatley it didn't and I have continued to take it on and off over the years. Both my 8 year old wet the bed, he stopped last year , and my 5 year old still does it. I was told that when I was sleeping my body didn't produce the hormone that told my body to slow down on urine production and the Desmopressin mimicked this.

It's so nice to hear that you are not alone in this situation. I have told my little boy that I have met lots of nice new people on the internet who are in, or went through, the same situation. He was very happy to hear it as I think he was starting to feel like he is the only kid on the planet at his age still wetting the bed. All his friends are dry every night whenever they sleepover which makes it worse.....but he feels much better now, as do I, so thank you x x x x

Aimee my 6 1/2 year old DS is exactly the same so you are not alone as you'll know from the other responses. I tried an alarm last year but to no avail he just wouldn't wake up, and finally in the last few weeks I decided no more pull ups! He's been improving gradually and we've just had 2 complety dry nights - he is so proud of himself in the morning when he realises he's still dry! I did ask the doctor recently when we were visiting and he said nothing to worry about at this stage it should just improve with age. I do find the amount he drinks from late afternoon onwards makes a huge difference so whenever I can I monitor his intake. Good luck!

Thanks guys, am planning on giving everything a try. The wallchart we have already started and the alarm I should hopefully get one soon. The chiropractor sounds amazing too but will try the cheaper options first as I doubt that would be covered by insurance and knowing Dubai it will be crazy money. Thanks girls x

Aimee...the chiropractic treatment was not painful at all. Dr adjust some misaligned bones down the back and then worked on muscles/nerves by pressing on certain points around the stomach area. My daughter couldn't stop giggling because she is ticklish but she wasn't in pain at any point.

I was a bed wetter on and off until I was around 18, my mum and nan were also bed wetters until they were teenagers so definitely hereditary. When my daughter was 6 I took her to see an enuresis nurse who gave her and old fashioned NHS alarm system. My DD refused to wear it as the wire had to be clipped inside her pants. So I did a lot of research on the Internet and found an alarm called the RODGER Wireless alarm. I decided to buy this although it cost me £100 for the alarm and sensor pants. It was the best decision I ever made as within 3 nights my DD was dry after never having a dry night in her life. As it is wireless with the sensors sewn into the pants my DD didn't mind wearing them. My other DD who was going exactly the same way following her sister with the bed wetting started using the alarm also just last month. It took her slightly longer to stop (just two weeks) but she has now been dry for a month. You can buy from www.bedwettingalarm.co.uk , have a look at what other mums have said on their testimonial page.

I was a bed wetter when I started school at 5 or so. Mum says I stopped wearing nappies from 10 months but when I started school my bladder was too weak and I was too tired to wake up in the night. Pediatricians back in the day, early 80s said no to alarms due to any negative feelings i may associate with it but did suggest to get me to track the days I was wet or not. This part I remember clearly because every morning I would wake and mark the outcome on the calendar and for consecutive nights, I'd be rewarded. Give this approach a go and after a month or two you'll start to see improvements hopefully. edited by Angie Mar on 01/06/2012

Aimee1982 - I have one I've been planning on selling, only used 4-5 times. Fixed my son after a year of betting wetting. Brought from Life Pharmacy on Al Wasl Road if you would prefer a new one, but had to order it. About 400.

Another thing to consider is constipation even when the child does not seem constipated. See http://www.slate.com/articles/life/family/2012/03/bed_wetting_the_simple_cause_your_doctor_probably_missed_.html . I thought the article was fascinating...

My daughter was 12 and still wetting the bed every night. She had every applicable medical test but nothing was wrong. Doctors kept saying it would just take time to correct itself. We tried the bed alarm, waking her up during the night, putting her bottle of water in the bathroom so when she wanted a drink in the night she went to toilet at the same time (this did help a bit). It was at the point where she wouldn't go to sleepovers due to he embarrassment. A friend told me she had heard about a chiropractor who might be able to help, so I made an appointment with Dr Gary Fitzgerald. He explained that sometimes the muscles are weak and did some adjustments that he thought would help. That night my daughter was dry. And dry for the next 4 nights. We saw Dr Gary every week for about 4 weeks and the bed wetting problem is no more. 12 months on she is still dry every night. Because my daughter is a bit paranoid about he problem returning we've been seeing Dr Gary every 3 months for a checkup, just to help build her confidence back up. It's probably worth a try if the bed wetting is bothering your son. Dr Gary works at Wellbeing Medical Centre on Al Wasl Rd.

Try Life Pharmacy on Al Wasl Rd. Found one there for my daughter some time back. The medical name for them is "eneuresis alarms".

I got ours from bedwetting dot com, delivered via Aramex. It worked but I let ds talk me out of the overtraining period, and he relapsed, and has since refused to do the alarm thing again. He is nearly 9, and it is slowly improving on its own. The more you talk to people, the more you realize it's pretty common. For temporary situations like your 4 days, there's a very expensive medicine called desmopressin that works for a lot of people. Comes in a nasal spray and melt away tablets. Can be hard to find in Dubai. I've had luck at the pharmacy in the Safest Way building, and once at the one in Ibn Battuta across from Nail Spa.
