Hi moms,
I recently had to get an enema at NMC Speciality Hospital. But the experience was really bad, the nurse was really inexperienced. I have to get an enema once a month.
If you have had an enema Where would you recommend?
Or where can i buy the enema kit?
i have tried the fleet enema but they are not so good

i had one today at HealthHolistic at Umm Suqueim 3. Very professional. You do it weekly for a month (I opted for 2 sessions only) and that's it.

My recent visit to India at an Ayurveda treatment allows you up to three enemas during the two weeks stay! The so-called healthy diet was about 700 calories per day! All guests are allowed to have an enema, but I somehow missed it. I wouldn’t mind having an oil-based enema. It’s not the end of the world….no harm trying. A larger than life man had the colonic irrigation and he highly recommend and will be coming back the following month. Last week I had an investigation at MediClinic whereby I had to have a Meal Plan the day before. This consists of taking tablets, cleansing yourself thoroughly and you just basically have a continuous ‘waterfall’. I might as well take my book and read in the loo! This I would say is 10 times worse.

Horrified to read that a doctor is recommending monthly enemas for weight management. Have a colonic irrigation as a one off and clean the colon then change your eating habits to a high fiber healthy diet but do not rely on enemas. .... that is madness. Do **not** have a colonic irrigation either! The body is designed to poop! It doesn't need any help!!!!!

Yep - I saw one of the medical TV programs recently about enemas and the doctor told this woman frequent ones were not good for the body!

You all are crazy! Using an enema is akin to abusing laxatives except slightly grosser. Whoever suggested you do that is a really, really, really awful doctor. It's like encouraging bulimia.

I am due to get an enema again today what should i do. Should i go back or cancel? I have been feeling better since that last enema. Awaiting your reply 1 or 2 enemas is not bad, it's not bad oce or twice per year. Feeling great after, is something normal.... but I totaly agree with Tessa. Try with food with fibers, ground flax seeds, dried prunes, dates.... and a lot, a lot of water and exercise.

She was a dodgy dietician! Absolutely you should not use enemas for weight management. They actually damage the bowel by preventing natural processes, if used frequently. You will end up with a risk of long term problems like diverticular disease and even incontinence. Weight loss is less calories by one means or another (5:2, calorie counting, low fat, cabbage soup, etc) and higher calorie usage (exercise).

I went to the dietician at NMC, Dr. Fiji Antony weight loss and she said that enemas would certainly help. Besides, having an enema at home will be a problem with the kids so if you have had an enema somewhere in some hospital please do reply where you had it. And having one at home by yourself is quite tough. Awaiting your reply, Sincerely, Abby

Is this for real? I can't think of any condition in an adult that would need a monthly enema. If you have something like Hirschprungs disease or a neural tube defect then the bowel needs emptying much more frequently than monthly. If it is recommended less frequently than you are being probably putting yourself through it unnecessarily. Good, high fibre diet with lots of fluids and plenty of exercise is the answer! If you have already caused damage by unnecessary treatment then adding to the problem with the use of enemas will make it worse not better. Try a regular dose of lactulose, this being the case.
