Did anyone go and see the Sound of Music last night as I know it was sold out. Was it any good and would you recommend it?

TIA

Jackie

Excellent show, believe me, I've sat through quite a lot of shows in Dubai and this was by the far best I have been to - would definitely recommend it. Enjoy:)

I was there today and thought show was amazing we left early duento the unruly kids running around, sitting kicking chairs, up and down and people talking all the way through, four year old even said do these children not know how to behave, I was very very disappointed with the behavior of some of the kids , I mean what adult allows the child sitting on her lap to continually kick the chair because he was bored and the pull another childs hair rant over Why didn't you just turn around and tell them to stop or slap them? edited by MsGeorge on 17/04/2011

Hmmm, has anyone brought a two year old? I was going to have our maid babysit, but it's her birthday... Ds is usually quite good at sitting down and loves shows, but I haven't brought him to a service longer than an hour and three hours, esp when it's past his bedtime is a bit of a stretch!

We saw it Tuesday night and it was fantastic ! We were super impressed, the cast were excellent, amazing singing and really could not fault it at all, better than I thought it would be actually so I would say go see it if you can, Maria's voice and all the nuns were fab and the kids and Captain - all of them really ! lol A fantastic production so a brilliant evenings entertainment :)

Just arrived home from tonight's show and it was brilliant. I have seen it in London and would go so far as to say that tonight's show was better! Just a small problem with the backing music being too loud for the singers but aside from that it was excellent.

There are alternating casts; maybe one is better than the other. Also they haven't had much rehearsal time (know someone who's in it).

We went on the opening night. I felt it was very long for a family show, it was slightly late starting (probably just opening night teething issues) and was nearly 3 hours long. I thought the lighting and sound quality were quite poor. The scenery changes were dire, in fact I've seen plays at local secondary schools with smoother, more professional transitioning. The child actors were, however, superb and, along with Mother Superior and her singing nuns, really held the show together. In fact, they could have done the show without the rest of the cast. We enjoyed it simply because of them, I'm quite glad that we didn't pay the higher rate for tickets.

I thought I was maybe being too distrusting this morning when I read the 2 glowing reviews from posters with a v small number of posts with some scepticism. Seems like my initial thoughts may have been correct.

As a big fan of SOM who watch the movie many times over the years, I have opted not to watch the show as I know that I would be overly critical of this show. Too much high expectation can really spoil your enjoyment. I learned my lesson after watching LOTR movies ;)

sorry but our group left early last night as we found it terrible, you had to strain to hear the music and some of the acting was awful. Maria is brilliant. I suppose everyone is entitled to their opnion, so thats mine!

I saw it last night with my husband and two girls. I had goosebumps throughout - a truly wonderful production. The cast were all absolutely wonderful - Jac, grab whatever tickets you can get just don't miss it. Sarah :-)

Surely someone on here must have gone last night. Really don't want to buy tickets if it isn't any good as would spoil those childhood memories! Anyone?
