We have the 3L 5 door Pajero and a 4.2L trail blazer. It cost AED 130 each car to fill from empty. I travel 110km per day. The Pajero needs filling every 3.5 days whereas the trailblazer can go for 5 days with the same amount of petrol. The AC in the Pajero is fantastic but fuel efficient it really isn't. My friend has a Prado and travels the same distance only fills one of her petrol tanks every 5 days, same with my friend who has a Ford Explorer. The Pajero feels and sounds like a truck when you drive it compared to other 4x4's I've driven. I also find it drags if you want to pick up speed quickly to overtake or merge with traffic.

Had 2 door for 3 years and loved it, now upgraded to 5 door (with 2 kids it's a necessity) and can't be happier cause no need to learn the buttons & etc., it's just longer. Touch wood never had a problem with it :) As DH says it has more options than Prado and it's cheaper (Toyota is just over rated) Smaller service was done in one day, bigger in 2. And at that time it was v convenient for me to drop off/pick up car for service from Garhoud, and now it's even easier with metro for Sh.Zayed service center. FYI, we've traded 2 door for 5 door at Mitsubishi itself for the better price than Al Futtaim Automall offered. edited by dramaqn on 30/09/2011

I have the SWB (2 door) 3.8 and it is much less fuel efficient than my 5 door 3.5 Kia Sorento. Other than that though, its a fab car to drive and the 3.8 has a real kick especially the SWB as the chassis is lighter, so the bigger ones feel a bit heavier and sluggish in comparison. I got the service package, which has worked out well. Mine is almost a year now, and touchwood no problems so far, except some initial problems with the wheels not being properly balanced when I first got it but they fixed it at my first service.

I love my pajero - nothing to add about the fuel, mechanically it hasn't let me down yet, apart from needing a new batttery. And offroad it's fab too.

I've had three a Pajeros. A new 2 door in London, a new 5 door in Dubai and an old 5 door in NZ. All have been great, never had any problems. Feels very expensive to fill one up in NZ but not a problem with the cheap fuel here! I've recently sold my Pajero in NZ, it was 20 years old and still going strong.

The first car I drove in Dubai in 2001 was a 2 door Pajero (after years of driving a Clio in the UK!) belonging to the man who became DH, so I have a real soft spot for them. His was an old one that was even fab in the desert, better than a lot of the bigger engined fancier ones. Even with the battering it got as it was driven in the desert a lot, it never gave up. As his was old the AC wasn't fab, but I think the newer ones are better.

DH has a Pajero 5 door and is in and out of the garage for servicing as its recommended at 5,000 km mind you he does do a lot of kms! Buying new meant he had quite a long time of free servicing and has now entered a service contract so it's not too bad.

thanks ladies, i really appreaciate your feedback. I prefer the 2 door as i am more or less the only person in the car! but the 5 door is nice aswell. is the maintence high ? 120 dhs isnt much to fill up a tank if it last 2 weeks! but i guess also depends on how much you drive.

I really like my 5 door and feel high up and very safe. A tank of petrol lasts me about two weeks I think although I can't say that I give much thought to fuel economy when it only costs 120 AED to fill it up! I never rember which side the tank is on so often have to move!

I have the big wagon (the five door). Love it. Fuel isn't the best. I go through a full tank in 7-8 days. But the smaller 2-doors will be more fuel efficient than the 5 doors. One of the best things about Pajeros is that the petrol tank door is on the right (passenger) side of the car. Seemingly 75% of cars in Dubai have the petrol tank door on the left (driver) side of the car, which means pulling into a petrol station and filling up is a cinch, even during the busy periods! I can't tell you all the times I've pulled in and out of petrol stations in only a few minutes while everyone with a left-side tank was left waiting in long lines.
