Does anyone know where to get beginner/trainer chopsticks in Dubai? They are for a hopeless adult (me!) who hasn't been able to master the art of using chopsticks.

I'm looking for something like this ...

http://www.kkdiscount.com/practice-training-chopsticks/

I know I can just make my own version (with a piece of rolled up paper and an elastic band) but these look better.

Thanks!

Thank you all for the store suggestions. I'll check them all out. I was trying to avoid the rubber band option as I wanted something that I could wash and reuse while I'm learning instead of chucking out after every meal.

Many a moon ago I worked in a Chinese restaurant and we would have to tie rubber bands around the ends of the chop-sticks when children wanted them. You just put the rubber band about 2cm down from the end (wher eyou aren't eating), then tie it once, then wrap it around only onle chop-stick, tie both again, then wrap it around the other. I also googled this way: http://lifehacker.com/5616695/use-a-rubber-band-to-turn-disposable-chopsticks-into-a-training-set But I had no problems using the chop-sticks with the rubber bands on the ends. I've done this for DS before I found the actual training chopsticks and it worked perfectly well.

I took a school group to Hong Kong years ago and the kids practised their chopstick technique before we went by using two biros and using them to pick up Smarties from a bowl - by the time we got there everyone was stick perfect! Or next time you're at the mall, buy a Chinese lunch in the food court and get an extra pair of chopsticks to practice with at home. The trick is to keep the bottom one steady and only move the top one with your finger. When eating from a bowl with chopsticks, it is perfectly OK to bring the bowl closer to your mouth and shovel the food in, especially the rice :)

Daiso has kids version which would still work for an adult. They may actually have adult version but I've always bought for kids so didn't notice if adult as well. It is a Japanese store so always have them and for great price (everything is 7 Dhs). Often have different versions so a bit of choice. edited by Catawba KSE on 07/03/2012

I bought some at Virgin store before Christmas and saw a few left the other day at Virgin Mecarto store. They are colourful kids designs, but same concept.
