My cousins bought me and my husband, including our 1 month old DS tickets to go up the Burj Khalifa. Is he too young to go up? We're just concerned about the pressure on his ears going up the lift. As the tickets are non refundable and cannot be rescheduled, we dont want the tickets to go to waste.

Thanks!

Thanks, ladies. But would it be safe for him to go up? Would the pressure on the lift affect his hearing at all? Maybe im just being paranoid. Is he feeding from a bottle? If so, I would feed him to help change the pressure in his ears. Used to do this with my son in the plane. The descent is worse than the ascent so maybe keep the bottle for the way down.

I took my then 8 week old up the Burj lasst summer and she was fine. Had her in the sling, and she slept the whole time. I tried to steer clear of too big crowds and tried to keep myself and the baby away from the people in the lift (easier said than done as they pack the lifts quite full). I was more worried about people coughing and sneezing over my newborn, than the pressure on the ears. You can always keep a binky on hand the baby can have while travelling up. Nursing or drinking from the bottle also would help, but I can't see how you would do that in the full elevator....

thank you so much. yeah, must be the hormones combined with not having enough sleep. i think he should be alright. although, we did phone his doctor and he advised against it...

I really wouldn't worry about it. Babies younger than yours fly without problems. He might be uncomfortable for a few seconds, but his ears should adjust to the pressure changes. You can always give him a paci/bottle/ nurse him (just like you would if flying with a young baby) if you're concerned about it, but there probably is no need.

Hi Forty_Winks, I've been up Burj Khalifa and would be quite happy to take a new baby up. The only thing I would say is to take a carrier for your baby. We left our buggy at the desk at the bottom, I can't remember if this was voluntary or not but it gets pretty busy and a buggy could be a pain.

Put the baby in a carrier or sling and baby will probably sleep the entire time. There are plenty of benches along the way if you need to stop, sit and feed baby.
