Any parking near Emaar square?

I'm starting work at Emaar square downtown Dubai and I noticed that the parking in it is very pricey they charge 20 dhs an hour so in 10 hours it would mean I'd have to spend 200 dhs each day. That is way too much! Does anyone work there or knows anyone that does? How do you park your car? Are there any close by areas that employees park their cars at then walk to Emaar square? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

The metro link is open (I don't know at what time but it is certainly open from 7am). The mall parking is still free but fashion parking is closed until 10am so people tend to park in the Cinema Parking (or one of the others) and walk, it is a 10-15 minute walk.

Plus I think a lot of the mall sales staff use the metro to get to their places of work (the actual stores) and need to be there early so they can tidy up/arrange stock/ etc and get ready for opening by 10.

That's strange as a lot of the restaurants in the mall are open for breakfast much earlier than 10. I do know that the metro link is open from the metro station with access to the Emaar Square buildings as lots of people use it to commute directly to work (no car or mall parking involved).

Digging up this old thread to ask, is the access to the metro link from the mall open in the morning? Dh starts work in Emaar Square soon and has not been allotted a parking space. He went over yesterday and a mall security guard said that the mall opens only at 10 so access to the metro is unavailable till then.

It takes me about 4 minutes to walk but I am in the tower on the corner. Now it's fine, in the summer will be nasty Metro is a good option if you are close to the stop on the other end or drive to that stop and park near. If not then it's tricky as it can be a 20, 30minute or more walk to the metro stop..... Best bet is probably park in the mall and use the metro walkway

At the moment parking at Dubai Mall is free and with no time limits. I also work in Emaar Square but am lucky enough to have a parking permit, my colleagues who don't all park at the mall and walk, it's OK at the moment but in the summer it's not much fun. Taking the metro is your best solution, no SALIK and an air conditioned walkway to Emaar Square.

There's always the option of using public transport, of course... :) Indeed, in places like London, the majority of workers commute in via public transport, since most offices have limited parking (which is usually reserved for senior management) or indeed no parking at all, and public parking is expensive (probably getting on for the equivalent of 200 dhs a day). Yeah same here it would literally cost me 200 dhs a day which is a lot! I know but London is completely different the underground and buses make everything a whole lot easier and their are so many pedestrians its much easier to get around.

You can park your car at Fashion parking and take the metro link to get to Emaar square. An exit from the link directly opens at Building number 3. edited by Flames92 on 03/11/2013 What is the metro link station called? And isn't Dubai mall parking for money after the 4th hour???

I work in Emaar Tower 1 (Aston Martin building) and most people park in Dubai mall fashion parking section 1J. There is a small stair to the street and you can walk across the road to Boulevard Plaza and Emaar Square But then isn't the free parking for 4 hours only? So do you go and move the car every now and then or what? And how long does it take to walk the distance and is the heat bearable? edited by ImanF on 03/11/2013
