I have thick unruly hair and have heard all about this miracle treatment but i have a few questions. Do you colour your hair before getting it done as i have heard that the Keratin can change the hair colour? Can you colour your hair after you have had it done or will it spoil the effect? I called Tony & Lees at the byblos hotel and they are doing the brazilian keratin treatment, is this the one that has folmaldehyde in it or the safer one? Can anyone recommend this paticular salon.
TIA

Can anyone explain what keratin treatment is? Someone approached my yesterday about doing it to my hair and I am kind of tempted to do it. The only thing is that I have very damaged hair due to frequent flat-iron use so I am worried about my hair falling out. Can anyone advise me what to do?

My friend did mine for me in her house! My hair is thick and curly! An absolute nightmare in the summer! Now it is awesome! Love it! Not sure about the color. I find many salons expensive. But 400 sounds like an awesome deal! I previously paid 1500!

Had mine done at Jens Hair Salon on SZ Rd, near Fairmont Hotel. I paid AED1700 for long hair. It took about 1.5-2 hours. I use the special shampoo and conditioner, each costs AED80. I found the conditioner left my hair greasy so now use the more intensive conditioner which costs AED125. I had mine done in January and it is still pretty straight. It did not affect my hair colour. I also had rebonding done a few times, which I prefer as you don't need to use special products and can go swimming in the ocean without worrying about ruining the effects. Rebonding is around the same price and for me it lasted well over a year. It is more damaging to your hair initially and really strips the colour.

Had mine done at the salon on green community 2 months ago - I have thick frizzy curly hair - very pleased with the result, the humidity was making my hair awful now it takes me 15 mins to style and stays like that no matter what the weather - had colour done then treatment same day, had to wait to wash out for 2 days, did not change the colour at all - would recommend go for it !!

I had the treatment done at Pastels about 3 months ago. I had the newer version done which meant that they washed out the treatment straight away and I didn't have to wait three days. Its also got less/no chemicals than the other option. I am SO pleased with the results and will definitely repeat the treatment in the next 2 or 3 months. My hair is just below my shoulders and it cost Dhs 1500. The only downside was that it did strip some of the colour out, not so bad that I had to redo the colour but it did fade it.

I had the treatment done @ Tony & Lee back in March, I love the results. My hair is medium length with curls & wave. My hair appears healthier now than before : )

my daughter from Paris had one keratine treatement at Tony and Lees (we had discount with a voucher) . she is very very happy. it took 3 hours for long hair, you wash your hair 4 days after. the only thing we dont know is the pourcentage of formol as most of the product of keratine have some. but so far hair are beautiful and she is not disapointed. !!!

Suzyqs, you must get a discount being a long time customer as have just called them and they quoted 650aed for shoulder length hair and 125aed for each shampoo and conditioner. Also said i would have to go back in 2 days to get it waashed out. I understood that you had it done and then didnt have to go back or is that another type of treatment?

Hi, I get mine done by my long time hairdresser who used to work for Frank Provost and now manages her own salon called Belssima which is in Discovery Gardens. Its on speacial offer of around 400, i would say it lasts 3 month tops or it did with my hair, but so worth it. i would also mention that i had my hair coloured a few days before - Highlights n Low lights) and once done with Keratine the low lights where a lot lighter (But nicer actually) The condition of your hair is amazing and if you have frizzy / wavey / curly hair can make a huge difference. Yes! you have to buy the Brazilian shampoo and conditioner which are so lovely. I have booked my next lot for June! PS: Forgot to mention i have thick long wavy hair - and it makes blow drying straight actualyl enjoyable.

So, when i spoke to the lady at Tony and Lees she told me that they have a special offer on for this month for 500aed and 200aed for the shampoo and conditioner. She told me it was the brazilian keratin treatment and would take 1.5hours on my thick shoulder length hair. I asked her if it contained formaldehyde at which point my scottish accent seemed to confuse her, not sur if on purpose or not! Anyone used this salon or had this treatment done?

I do have thick hair but not very curly and it's shoulder length... I have to go back and wash it off because it needs time for the hair to take in the keratine. You can always opt for the crystal treatment if that bothers you - it's just more expensive... And you'll need to buy special shampoo and conditioner if you want the keratine to last longer.

Amandashaks how long is your hair? Is it thick? How much was the treatment? Why do you have to go back to the salon to wash it? Do they not give you the aftercare products with the treatment? Sorry for all the questions.

Hi Nutty, I just had mine done on Saturday and I'll be going today to have the chemicals washed off. It doesnt change the color of your hair at all. As for getting your hair colored, you need to do that before the Keratine treatment as coloring it after that would remove the effect. I got mine done at Beauty Spot on Wasl Road - they currently have 50% Keratine. They have two types of treatment - one is the normal one (which is what I did) where you have to come back in 2 days to wash it off the hair and the other is called Crystal where it's all done on the same day (so no need to come back). But their offer is on the normal one :)
