I got a replacement license in March this year (after I lost my purse) from the Union Co-op at Safa Park. It was v quick. I just needed a passport copy - no police report was asked for. My purse was later handed in with cards intact. The two licenses are identical. The issue date is when you first got your Dubai license.

The issue date is the same date as my lost license... Which I found back in my home country when I was there over the Summer! Funny that my husband has actually left his license back home too

Same happened to me about 3 yrs ago. Was in a traffic accident and was sent home to find my lisence. Went to the traffic place at union co-op jumeirah and had a new lisence within 15 minutes. Just gave them my passport copy. No date or anything went onto the lisence so no way of telling it was just issued. Do they show the original issue date on the license because I am looking at my license and there is a issue date

I've heard of people who managed to get their license within 15 minutes, like Jag said, however when I tried that they needed a lost document report from the police which took forever as the guy typing it was taking his sweet time. I would get him to try the RTA place upstairs in Coop with his passport and try his luck first. :)

Do you have a copy with the number on? If so, go to union coop with the number and they will replace it very fast. Otherwise you need passport copy. Don't panic. Seriously

Not sure on todays rules, but there used to be a rule here that you HAD to report missing things like Passports and licenses. He better get to RTA asap.
