Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I have been at home now for 4 years and am desperate to find work, ideally part-time but even considering full-time. I have had enough being a lady of leisure and just really want to go out and work now. My CV is all up to date. My previous experience in the UK was in HR, but to be honest I am willing to do anything admin etc just to get me back in the world of work. I have no idea how to start the job searching. Are there any recruitment agencies that you can go in and talk to someone. Any one know of any jobs go anywhere ?

Part time and from home seems like a dream job! It looks like something I could do as I was in customer service before and can some Arabic. But I would feel uncomfortable to call a person who's name I don't even know. Does he have an email to send an enquiry? ooops sorry. His name is Naveed and you can mail him at: ceooffice at academiaofexcellence dot com

Hi Ladies, Have you looked on GulfTalent.com? I was really lucky and managed to get something within 3-4 weeks of coming in May through putting my CV on GulfTalent and a recruiter contacting me through there. There's some good ones on EW Jobs site too! Good Luck- I'm hope you'll get something soon :)

Cheeky, a good route back into work, may be through temp work. The events industry is always looking for people with 'people skills', and coming from a HR background i'm guessing you've got that. The work wouldn't be full time, but there are agencies such as www.hostexworld.com that look for the more mature lady (rather than part time model) to assist with temp work at business events, exhibitions and conferences. The work is usually for 3-7 days in a row, and can include helping process delegate registrations, assisting in the conference rooms, meeting and greeting speakers etc. The roles pays ok, and Hostex really look after their staff. The new events season is kicking off and I know agencies such as Hostex will be looking for lots of staff for up coming events. They are strict on visas though, so you need to have a residence visa and NOC from DH to legally work in this capacity. The work wouldn't be permanent, but would give you some local and more recent experience.

So many of us in the same boat, I have been here since May and non stop job searching all to no avail... it does make you wonder just how people get employed here!! DH tells me to enjoy being a lady of leisure but I need my own independence and want to work!! I to would take any thing admin, reception, etc GOOD LUCK EVERYONE :-/ Giggles it a lot of luck and having the right role land on a recruiters desk Pre 2009 there were roles galore however after the crash everything changed Clients can afford to be really choosy when it comes to hiring staff and as there are no active PC laws here they can chose gender, nationality, age etc You have to keep bashing away at it, this time of year historically is quiet and towards the end of the year companies write their budgets Good Luck! Prospective hirers can be very choosy I totally agree with that a million times over :(

I think employee reference is the key to get a job in most companies....atleast the big ones. I was in a similar situation...out of work for 4 years and it is really difficult to get started agin. We moved to Dubai in july last year and I had been looking for jobs since then. 100's of job applications on all the available job sites but no luck. I only got lucky now (after 14 months) and have a job offer from a very good company (not a very good pay but atleast i am starting somewhere). I targeted a company and added their HR and the department heads/supervisors on Linkedin, tried to contact them for available opportunities and thats how I got lucky. Wish you good luck...its difficult but not impossible.
