I have the dymo machine and get the rolls to print the names on from most stationery stores. They don't stick to well to fabric though but is great for plastic like lunch boxes, bottles etc. They don't wash off, in fact I have difficulty peeling them off sometimes.
For the fabric (uniforms, hats etc), I use the Zaks ones, works a treat.

I find it easiest to use labels from zaks, like Dan Lou said these are no frills, and really easy to use. Just follow the instructions at the back of the labels, or ask one of the staff at zaks. I used these couple of years ago for my son at nursery, and they are still intact! Infact, I had to peel off the label from the back of one of his caps a few days ago, as that cap no longer fits him, and I'm gonna use it for my younger son.
Nah, I looked everywhere, can't find the tapes here. Bought the stick-ons but most came off.
Best to do is buy a CD labeling or permanent ink pen and write on the tags yourself.
MumOfTwins - do you have any feedback on the labels from the Dymo machine? Looking into myself and just wanted to know how it compares with buying ready made labels.
TIA!

For name labels, we order them at www.namebubbles.com.
Since my son is only at nursery, I order what they call the daycare pack and it has more than enough labels for clothing, shoes, lunch boxes and other items. Total cost is $34.88 and I pay $4.95 for shipping (which is only $2 more than shipping them in the US).
They reach within a week and have been going into the laundry for at least two years now and are just fine. Same goes for the the dishwasher proof ones that we use for lunch boxes, bottle etc - they've done great as well. I think they are a good product and you get to pick your own colors, designs etc and the kids have fun with that.
I would like to hear from someone who actually used them and found them durable in daily life. It would be so simple to print them at home but I am reluctant as these things often lack quality. Who made good experiences with them?
Just to clarify as I didn't explain well on my earlier post (sorry! )
If you have a Dymo Letratag printer (I paid for mine 35-40 dollars back home) you can add those little designs to your name tag (horse, bow, heart..there's many) as well as use many different fonts - and print them as needed - and iron on !
Here's the iron-on label roll you can get online http://www.labelcity.com/dymo-letratag/dymo_letratag_iron-on_fabric_label_tapes.shtml
Here's an older post on where to find the Dymo label maker in Dubai http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=74172
I personally still prefer the stuck on you labels to the others. They are a little more expensive but I love the convinience of ordering online and getting them delivered right to my house. [url=http://www.stuckonyou.biz/dubai '>Stuck on You[/url'>
I use them on my kids school uniform for the second year now and they last. I also got some personalised labels for their lunch boxes. They are dishwasher and micowave safe and I have not found that in any of the other stores here.
@CheekyG there is a zaks in beach centre mall, on beach road, i always get labels from them for my kid, and i know of a lot of my friends who do as well, and are of good quality. They also have stores in Mirdiff city centre and Green community from what i know. HTH.
Just wanted to touch on this topic...might help someone out. Instead of paying for the labels, why not printing your own as you need it?? http://www.labelcity.com/dymo-letratag/dymo_letratag_iron-on_fabric_label_tapes.shtml
Hi Ladies
In an earlier post, someone mentioned that you can get labels from Zaks, can you tell me if this is a website or are they based in Dubai? If based in Dubai, where are they?
thanks
