Champion Cleaners? I don't think so!!

Warning...rant ahead! Just SOOO annoyed!
So on Sunday I took 2 bed quilts to Champion Cleaners at Marina Mall for drycleaning. I previously used to use another local laundry near the Yacht Club that has since closed so I thought I'd give Champion a go. Despite the fact they were charging 42 AED per quilt compared to 30 I left them there to be picked up tonight as I have guests flying in tomorrow morning and needed them done.
So on the Tuesday I get a call from them saying that they think the colours will bleed (one is white with black patterns, the other blue with black patterns) and when I reply that they've been dry cleaned loads of times they still said "but maam, our chemicals are stronger and we won't accept responsibility if the colours bleed". So I said, fine, just do the blue one as I need that and I'll pick up the white one and find somewhere else.
So tonight I go to pick them up and guess what? They haven't done EITHER of them!! "Sorry Maam, they said the blue would run too"

"But I told you to do the blue one anyway, when did you find this out"
"Last night maam"
"Why didn't you call me then?!"
"Sorry Maam"

AAHHHHHHH!!! What is with the **** service in this place sometimes!?!?! Now almost a week later I have 2 bed quilts that are STILL dirty and friends flying in for the weekend tomorrow. So pi#$ed off!!

OK Rant over... :P

Thanks for letting us know about Champion Cleaners, will stear clear of them! We use Fourways Laundry in JLT if that helps, very friendly. I give them all of DH shirts and not had a problem (only been 2 months so you never know) ;) we use Fourways too since Pilgrim brought my DH's shirts back smelling like cigarettes. Pilgrim didn't even try and deny that the driver smoked in the delivery van! Fourways have been good so far - DH even commented on how well the collar was done (?!)

I wouldn't touch Champion Cleaners with a barge pole ever again! I used the one next to Spinneys at the Um Seqeim shopping centre. I took in an expensive satin ball gown to be dry-cleaned for a ball and when I got it back I couldn't do the zip - up it had shrunk! And before anyone wonders if I had put on weight, the answer is no because I made sure I tried on the dress before wasting my money to get it dry-cleaned. Wasted my money anyway didn't I? I can't believe that Champion Cleaners are also the most expensive ones I have seen in Dubai. There are many dry cleaners around the Barsha area and also in the Marina, too many to choose from so steer clear from Champion Cleaners everyone !

We pay 8 dhs per shirt, they do free pick up/delivery. They are in JLT near the Bonnington Hotel, phone 04 447 7204

I only had one experience with them - where they really didn't get a curtian clean.....my beef with them is the job they do is average (IMHO) but they are expensive.... DH has also had shirts back, that have obviously been put in the plastic damp, so they have got that awful smell about them. We have been using riches (On the recommendation of another EW lady) for about 6 weeks now and they are fab...call me if there is a mark they can't get out, do a good job, very resonably priced and pick up and deliver......

I would disagree that Champion Cleaners are not the best. They are the best from all existing ones. Using them for the past 7 years for all kind of dry cleaning and they never screwed any of my items Same here...used them for five years for clothes, carpets and lounge suites and they were brilliant every time. (Rashidiya and DFC) Sorry you've had such a frustrating experience sydneygal.

Why don't you try the small dry cleaning shops here and there? I had been with Butlers - when it was working- then champion cleaners and both are worse than each other, over charging and damaging the fabrics and so on... and then gone to the small shops, then discovered these little shops do great job, they listen to your details about each piece of cloths/ quilts or anything, they are cheap and do free home delivery... edited by Gorobattie on 09/03/2011

I have used Champion and totally agree, they are not the best. Have tried a few others but also useless. I am now using Ritchies Laundry, who also do dry cleaning. they pick up and deliver, been using them since January now and so far no complaints, they pick up and deliver when they say they will and the laundry and dry cleaning has come back in good condition (so far !)

I used them years ago, asked them to dry clean a wool skirt - they washed it and it came back slightly smaller than one for a barbie.... not only did they not tell me and tried to hand it back in the plastic they friggin' iditot of a delivery man stood there laughing at me when i went mad..... managed to complain to the manager, and managed to get them to actually give me the full cost of the skirt (AED 1,000). Did have to go into mega biatch mode thou'
