i would like to say no matter how much you schools charge, learn to be respectful towards parents. i have honestly tolerated bad attitude from the lower and reception staff of my child's school. really bad informal attitude. im gonna meet the principal tomorrow. my child is in FS1 there AND i have to wait at the school reception till 12 because i have no conveyance to go back home. and you cant even use the pantry just once for tea. how much would a Styrofoam cup of tea cost you? the only polite thing to do when i and a few other mothers asked if the could have tea was to say 'please help yourself' or "mam pantry is just for the staff". but saying 'oh there is a grocery across the street and you can get food from there' is downright obnoxious and rude. the receptionist didn't even listen to what we were asking for.we didnt want food. we know where the groceries are, we r sitting here in school and you should be at least decent enough to know how to respond appropriately. for gods sake some of us wait there from 7:30 am till 12 noon. have some humanity!

i have seen people get angry and complain over the management, the way teachers handle the kg students, even the bus supervisors saying to each other that they don't care some of the kg students are left at school after classes since the school would anyway call the parents and let them know that their child missed the bus so they can pick them up themselves... all complaints within a single week.... i honestly feel i made a bad decision and warn other parents to not do the same.

Holy Thread Ressurection Batman!!!!! You waited 2 years to reply and be offended? Yes because I logged in to the forum after 2 years today. Some people have a life outside of the world wide Web you know. I had forgotten all about it! Is there a rule here that we can't reply on old threads. People do it all the time in this forum. Why is everyone such a snob here! Give me a break!

Seriously??? You dont have means of transport to and from the school and then blame the school for that and not supplying you with refreshments while your waiting??? Good heavens. Such a sense of entitlement. I feel sorry for your child. I'm sorry? You don't have to get prsonal here... you have no right to be so judgemental. That's extremely rude. I was just talking about courtesy since we had to wait in school but didn't want to. At that point of time I had to wait in school because the bus didn't provide transport for kids, in my area. It wasn't my fault that there was no transport available for my child.

Well old story now. Enough bashing, thank you very much. I was mostly tired of so many issues with the school and was venting out. Unfortunately tea became the highlight ? But yes the principal did say later on that the parents sitting at the reception should be offered tea/coffee.... because not our fault there is no transport available for kids in certain areas and a lot of parents had to wait.

Actually, if I were the school, I wouldn't allow you to wait in the school at all. If my child were at that school, I would find it strange for other parents to linger at the school when not necessary. If you can do it, why not carers and other randoms? You can wait somewhere else, but not inside the school.

Your also assuming that tea/coffee is provided for staff, In many schools the staff have to bring in their own tea and coffee, so it might not be readily available!!

OP, this is pretty funny. You are waiting all morning at the school because you can't get a ride home and you want to go into the staff room for tea!

It seems like you are having a bad day. For sure it is not acceptable for school staff to have poor communication with parents and I would definitely complain about the bus arrangements - that sounds really unprofessional! BUT Tea! Come on! They are running a school not a cafeteria. It is not their problem if you dont drive or cant organise transport to take you home while your child is in class. You are an adult - you need to organise yourself properly! What makes you think it is acceptable for parents to have access to staff facilities? It is totally inappropriate. They have rules for security - not anyone can wander in the school when they fancy and have a cuppa! If I was the recptionist, I wouldnt want groups of parents loitering around for hours. this is not how the school system works....... I would suggest you either: Sort out your transportation or Switch to a school closer to your home or Bring a flask of tea with you!
