It's not bringing back sweet memories, the weather was the main reason I wanted to leave Geneva to come here! I'm depressed. Where's the sun?

a friend of ours had to abandon his car yesterday and take a taxi cause he's never driven in the rain before and didn't know what to do....! he actually admitted to be being scared! he's obviously not English/Austrailian!! although on reflection, better that he did that rather than create an accident through dodgy driving.

Dubai in the rain - not good, jut emphasises the main reason people may be here - the weather. Without it, it can really suck!

Well this is interesting. I always just assumed that Dubai was "as dry as a dead dingo's donger" (as they say). It seems not so. Go figure? After living through 4 years of drought in Oz, all I can say is at least a bit of rain cleans away all the dust and makes everything green and fresh again... Lol after 4 weeks of rain in Queensland and then floods I was looking forward to coming back to "sunny" Dubai. I should be paid to go to drought affected areas :) BTW - Barry Mackenzie - cracker movie!!

BMAP said "as dry as a dead dingo's donger" - I just love this multicultural society, I'm learning so much!

Really? People forgot that it ALWAYS rains at this time of year? Enjoy it, it's a wonderful break from the beating heat of summer - which you'll moan about in a few months time - just can't please some people. It cleans everything and revitalises the place, not to mention helps with water levels - you do realise water is a valuble commodity here? edited by JulesinDXB on 22/01/2011

OK, the rain was fun for a while but after a couple of hours it became boring, not to mention cold, cold, cold. On the plus side we left the car outside and it is now pretty much clean. Just need to clean the windscreen and wipers and we're all set to go for another week until we need to clean the car again.

Did *nobody* recognize the reference? Excellent song, I think! "against my shoulder" The version I know and love (saw Tina Turner sing it live at Knebworth many moons ago) is: I can't stand the rain Against my window Bringing back sweet memories I can't stand the rain Against my window Because he's not here with me Hey window pane Do you remember How sweet it used to be When we were together Everything was so grand Now that we've parted There's one sound that I just can't stand And here's me saying window, im a daft so and so, lol.

I don't mind the rain, just be careful on the roads. Had a scary drive home tonight in the rain. Emirates Road was flooded in a couple spots, which you couldn't see until you were already in it, causing people to slam on their brakes of course, or swerve to try to miss it. Many other side roads flooded. Was so relieved when I finally got home!

i've been in london for 4 years, out the total days of those years --combined, there has probably been a max of 85 days of sunshine...maybe (methinks)

I'm enjoying this weather. After a few years here you get pretty sick of Groundhog Day weather. Here, here!! Agree with the downside of the mad drivers though. Have stayed indoors today and possibly tomorrow just to avoid the roads.

kells honey, you could be looking at waterfront property tomorrow morning but hey, get out the boots lol So true SueB, but hey, at least I haven't had to invested millions of dirhams on my waterfront property...even if it only has "views of the water" once or twice every year. Hope it carries on tomorrow so DS and I can go sloshing about in the puddles (or "water Ponds" as the RTA put it). The only thing I DO hate about this weather is the state of the roads and these crazy mutters who continue to drive so recklessly :-( I have heard sirens on the Emirates rd twice since it started coming down a bit harder at about 5pm Stay safe ladies.

I love it!!! DH and I have been waiting for this weather. DS and I went out for a play in it before bathtime. He was hysterical...all because of the rain. And the best is waking up tomorrow and looking out the window...everything looks so clean and bright. Looks like angels ame down and washed all the dust away while we were sleeping. Just beautiful.

It usually rains here December and January on or off, at least it has since I have been here 8 yrs. http://www.dubaiairport.com/dubaimet/met/climate.aspx#January edited by SueB on 21/01/2011 Ah, OK, don't know why, I'd got February fixed in my mind as "the rainy month"! Heard tales from dorter's friends about school being closed for days at a time in Feb because of the floods!

Sorry, don't get where I said you can't have an opinion. I said I don't get the moaning when we live in a place that has nothing but sunshine. But hey, we're all different, I'm happy about most things in life - if you want to moan, go ahead, that is defo your right. Go for it! :)

It's really getting me down too:( . All I see at home is grey skies and rain and I detest it. Went home for the 'summer' (the gloom more like!) last year and ended up staying 4 months.......NOT to be repeated this year. Like Pepps, I didn't sign up for this.well you can un-sign ;) Hmmm, thanks SQ but think I'll put up with the lousy rain for now!:) The alternative, well it's not even worth considering as far as I'm concerned. Brrrrrrr. @ Dxb.Fairy, last time I checked we were all entitled to our opinions on here;)

I only wanted to counterbalance all the "Where's the rain?" posts there have been recently! There is another point of view, you know!
