I did mystery shopping for a research company a few years back. My first assignments were with McDonald, then was sent to cafe, restaurants and luxury boutiques as well. They will usually tell you to try a number of dishes, ie starter, main and a beverage. The food is reimbursement and you be paid a fee for assignment. Sometime you have to go within a specific time speculated. The feedback are gathered online via the research company's website..and usually takes over an hour to answer all the questions, and if the system is slow, it will take forever, you can imagine the pain. If you have time to kill and want to do something to keep yourself occupied, go for it. However, the fees paid for each assignment is really not worth the traveling time and time spent on the computer.

It's not just for "people in power." All different types of companies use them....they do research about consumers here which actually DOES have a BIG impact on decisions made about numerous things. If it didn't matter...they wouldn't be in business. And....it's not about the money. It's about having an impact. (but getting a cheque in the mail for $50 is nice too) Rose0284: Is his company hiring? I'm a researcher and can't find many research jobs here.

DH works for a market research company and they use secret shoppers. You can email [email protected] to see if they have any current needs. Also, everyone on here should join their panel...you get paid around $1 per survey (and they don't take long to fill out)...AND your opinions have an actual impact on things here (and end up in the news and such). you can visit www.YouGovSiraj.com to join :)
