Hi all! I would like to know your suggestions for the best baby monitors available in Dubai. My cell and landline have bad reception in the house with the thick cement walls, so I'd like to avoid that with a baby monitor.
Thanks!!

After much searching, reading reviews we also bought the BT digital Baby Monitor 150(Amazon); we have very thick walls and a huge place with 2 stories - baby's room at one end of the house and living room at another. This monitor won 2 awards in the UK Mother and Baby Best Monitor 2008 and 2009 and for me, value for money won hands down. Lots of lovely features and not cheaply made like some you get, like coming with wall mounts, voice recording, torch, adjustable sensitivity, nightlight, room temp monitor, usb port for own music and built in lullabys, but very compact. I don't use all those features and it sometimes loses reception downstairs -but warns you immediately when it loses contact with the baby unit. I would say its a good option if you live in a double storey unit with solid floors, as long as your place is not high as well as long if you know what I mean. If it's just a one floor house with thick walls this one's perfect. I love mine anyway. ETA we have had it 18months now and despite much dropping and abuse, it still works good as new - haven't even had to change batteries (rechargeable and backup battery). PS the temp monitor has been a lifesaver since if the AC starts to malfunction this monitor warns us long before the AC unit does - great for newborns edited by Aryanwynn on 17/08/2012

We're using "BT Digital Baby Monitor and Pacifier (White/ Purple)" Not sure about its availability here in Dubai as I got it from Amazon uk. We're happy with it and highly recommend it. We found it on 'Which' list as one of the best baby monitors. You can read through its customer reviews on amazon to see whether it suits your. HTH x

Thanks ladies! So, we have the Angelcare plus and Summer Peekplus monitors. Any other suggestions? Not sure i am looking for a movement sensor or a video camera monitor. I just really want a monitor that will work through the cement walls and will have no trouble hearing from one end of the house to the other or downstairs. Thanks for your help!

Thanks so much ladies! Is there a store in Dubai that sells the Angelcare monitor, or is it only available over the internet? Hi Tara, I've heard that BumbleBee in Dubai Mall has the AngelCare Monitor. I would also try calling Just Kidding as they may carry it as well. We bought ours from babyandme.net, poor customer service but it was delivered to us about a week after ordering it (they didn't answer the phone and never returned a call). I love the monitor and am so glad we have it. In my villa though, the reception isn't very good. LO's room is just around the corner upstairs and I have to either have the handheld unit on entryway table (next to the stairs), or on the stairs themselves. To answer the other question,I don't believe it can be used without the sensor pad but do a search online just to be sure. Even though my LO is 11 months it's still a nice piece of mind for me. And even with reception issues I'm still glad I bought this monitor. I have Angelcare and have been very happy. Sometimes I get some reception problems due to the position of the hand monitor but it is readily resolved by moving. As far as I know u need to use the pads all the time.

EMC2012...can you use the Angelcare monitor as a regular sound monitor without the sensor pad?

We've just switched to a d- link camera. The picture can be viewed on your iPhone/ iPad etc anywhere. I spent a few mins watching my DH settling our DD whilst I was coaching at a school. Very happy with it after our monitor failed to cope with the cement walls in our new home.

The AngelCare monitor works perfectly in my villa - I think there are a few threads on here about it. You can buy it in Dubai from babyandme.net
