Use her cell phone during the day when at work? Or only during her time off?

im glad to have found this thread since i have the same concern about my maid . she uses her mobile plus home phone a lot during the day and night. she left iron marks (burns) on many of our clothes since she is also on the phone while ironing, would be carrying my little one with one hand and checking FB on her phone uing the other....etc i did tell her that she needs to limit phone use (twice already) to break times and after baby sleeps, but she only did that for a couple of weeks, then back to square one. also, every single night she is on the phone for hours which makes waking up in the morning a struggle for her to get the kids ready to go to school (as my office hours start at 7 am)... luckily , her visa residence visa expires in december and i started looking for another one are you for real? I would not let a maid do that. Anyway she has no respect for you, just wait for it, something will happen.

A few of my friends have had some very bad surprises lately with their maids moonlighting. Maids who are one the phone may be making appointments for work ( outside your hours)

Hey MasCar thanks for sharing! And yes ladies that's very true, we shouldn't stay quite!!! specially when they are the ones taking care of our babies! Mascar Mygod!!! She is a sick woman!!! What you have done 100% right! I would definitely do the same if I catch her up with that behavior! I also got chances to check her mobile, even the facebook. Actually there is no much activities! She hasn't even changed her profile picture in years! But yes she has chat pals including her son and the family. So I am fine as long as she is not abusing my kindness and of course NO to **** prostitu** attitude!!! Just like Mascar did, "pack your bags and out!

IMO, if you notice that your maid is constantly on the phone, then she is up to no good and if you don't act, something bad will happen... Yup. For sure.

Wow, that sounds exactly like my ex maid ... in both examples !!l lol :) Hi Dusha I feel compelled to share my experience with you, since like you I allowed my nice, honest and hardworking maid wifi access in our home to chat with her family and kids. She was addicted to facebook. She was with us three months when I noticed she was always on her phone and even when she was taking care of my baby (the whole reason for employing her). After telling her to access her phone only after the baby was asleep at night and all her work was done, she would still keep texting or whatever when I was in the room. She would also take the phone to the bathroom (for what?). Very annoying and extremely concerning. I could also tell from her behavior that she could not wait for me to leave the house whenever I had to run errands. I started to feel uncomfortable in my own home and could not sleep at night. Had to do sth about it. I managed to get her separated from her phone for a bit and scanned it immediately (I know its wrong, invasion of privacy and all that. but my instinct told me otherwise). On her phone I saw that she was 'sexting' and skyping random strangers and sending them naked pics of herself (taken in MY bathroom). She was also making arrangements to meet some guy in MY home. She is married with two kids and her husband works in another gcc country. Or so she tells me. Now what she does with her personal life, and who she wants to be with is none of my business. But when it starts to affect the safety of my child, the security of my home and safety/reputation of my husband (her sponsor), I draw the line. I immediately cancelled her visa and she was on the next flight home. No explanation was sought or offered. She understood exactly why I asked her to pack her bags. The look on her face was one of pure shame. Lost a lot of money but regained my peace of mind. I don't want to alarm you but want to warn you and other EWrs about what you should watch out for. quote=Dusha'>Hey mwashington, ma I was having a big problem with my maid's phone. Whenever somebody calls she used to answer her phone with no hesitate! It was so annoying! She was also a facebook addicted since I let her use our wifi. One day when I asked her to help me with something for cooking, she heard her phone rings. So she answered and talked until I finished the work that she was told to do. I felt so bad and was very angry. But didn't take any action right after as she is the one taking care of my baby. I waited until I see some more mistakes. So there was a day I had to speak to her all about this. First I noticed she felt very bad but from next day I saw she wasn't doing the same and it was much much better! Ugh, maids and facebook. I checked up on a maid I had and found an open to the world facebook page. Plastered all over the front page was photographs taken inside my house. There were even pictures taken of her draped all over the christmas presents after we had gone to bed on Christmas Eve. And I mean draped over them. There was just something about the way she was lying there, she looked like a tramp, and she made the presents and my tree look like something in a bordello. There was also a picture of her lying over the bonnet of a random red car parked at the side of the road that also made her look like a tramp and I knew there and then that's what she was, that she was one of those quiet ones who are the worst. I got her into the house and made her remove all the photos and she was gone very soon after. I know it sounds daft but it was a porn star posing in the pictures and she made my presents look filthy. I can laugh about it now tho :D edited by DesertRose1958 on 05/09/2013

My maid has her phone with her most of the time but I rarely see her using it. She has no Internet access in our home. She works hard and if she does use the phone while working, I do not notice so it is not a problem. What she does in her off time in her room, it is her business.

Our maid uses her during the day but not if I'm within hearing distance. She can clean perfectly well with hands free so I'm happy to have her work and chat. I wouldn't like it if she was always on it around me, it would be pretty annoying to have a constant stream of Tagalog in my ear. She never uses it if she's with my children (which is infrequently).

Same here, she has it with her at all times (I am comfortable with this as she has a young child back home) and occasionally gets a text or brief call. She saves any chatting/texting for her breaktimes or after hours; it has never been a problem.

She can use it any time, but no hour long calls when she works. Its a bit like when you are at work, seize the moment of calmer waters and then make or take a call....she needs to understand this fine balance. Ie. when giving bottle to baby dont be on phone, when she is asleep and all work is done fine...etc...

Mine has hers around, but it rarely rings, sometimes a message from home.
