They are all equal and all academically strong schools with great reputations. I would just choose the school closest to my accommodations if I were her.

Hi Rickadon, thanks for your reply. Honestly, I didn't mean to insinuate that at all. I. Have been trying to convince her that many in Dubai would love to go to either school and that she is lucky to get a space with the emirates debenture. I only said, she isn't keen on either, 1) because she really isn't and 2) to say she feels the same about both, and is not leaning towards or favouring either. That's all. I understand that schools specially the two mentioned above are quite emotive subjects on this board. Her family had been apart for too long now and I am just trying to do the best to help her make her decision and hopefully come here in September. Thanks again. edited by Irooni on 14/03/2014

Hi Irooni DESS/DESC and JESS are highly sought after schools here in Dubai. I know that DESC has about 300 children on the wait list for year 7 for Sept and 30 + for other year groups. And we all know that the wait list at JESS is often very long as well. Your statement below leads one to think these schools are 'below par'. I may be misunderstanding this statement. I think she would be happy at either school. As has been mentioned on here many times schools are a personal decision, it can be difficult to make this decision based on what others think/feel. [i'>[b'>She is not really keen on either as the children go to a top prep school in London, which is why she has stayed there until now. Unfortunately her husband is not keen on spending much more than the EK allowance on the schools and these two schools are her only options.[/b'> [/i'> I can't answer your questions in regards to DESS or JESS but have a child at DESC and she is thriving, happy, learning and being pushed to her full potential. Honestly I would hope your friend would be happy with either school though it sounds like she is very attached to and happy with the school they are already at. So it is hard to say if these schools will ever meet her wants/desires for her children's educational journey. Logistics of where they will live changes things a bit too. Best of luck to her. She is fortunate to have the decision to make as many don't edited by Rickadon on 14/03/2014 edited by Rickadon on 14/03/2014

We have some friends coming to Dubai in September after hubby has already been here in Dubai for a couple of years. They have been on the DESS and Jess wait lists and some places are coming up for them. The children will be going into Year 7 and Year 5 in September. The mum cannot decide if she wants to do Dess for year 5 and desc for year 7 or Jess AR for both. The other thing is that the younger one might have to go yo Jess jumeirah as a year 5 place in Jess AR is not confirmed yet. She is not really keen on either as the children go to a top prep school in the London, which is why she has stayed there until now. Unfortunately her husband is not keen on spending much more than the EK allowance on the schools and these two schools are her only options. Can anyone please compare the two? Is one academically stronger than the other? Better teachers? Better organisation and pastoral care? Better facilities ? I would appreciate any help as she is desperate for some feedback. Many thanks edited by Irooni on 14/03/2014
