Driving from Muscat to Salalah - any hotel/motel in between?

We are relocating from India to Oman. Husband and I will fly into Muscat with the dog as accompanied baggage. Planning to drive from Muscat to Salalah with my small dog ( Problematic with Oman Air as the dog has to go on Cargo!! She's 11yrs old and only 5kg and I worry for her being in Cargo).
I know its about 10 hour drive but it is our only alternative at the moment.
Has anyone out there driven that route and was able to find a hotel on the way for a rest/overnight? If so, which town/hotel name? Please any input will be appreciated. I went through the old posts and could not find any answers there.
