This is one thing about Dubai I will never understand..... the feeling that you have to go straight to a specialist without consulting a GP first. And as for food intolerance tests please don't get me started. A friend has been "treated' for various intolerances and when that didn't work, eventually went to see a GP. Turns out it was a thyroid imbalance !!!!! edited by Geordie expat on 14/09/2014

OP, I can't determine by your post wording, when you say you "found out about it," do you mean you were diagnosed when your food intolerance tests were performed, or rather you were informed that this *could* be condition you suffer from? Most people who I know who have suffered from candida had severe symptoms. I also find it strange that the place where you had this intolerance test didn't give you any recommendations for medicinal therapy or guidance. At least I am assuming they didn't, since you are asking for a reference for a physician on this forum. @beebers...I got the food intolerance test done at the Dubai treatment and herbal centre...since I have tested positive for candida I'd like to go to a specialist in a hospital for the treatment...I usually go to the American hospital but they have one GI specialist and appointments are not available until oct...I am not really suffering from it in any way but since it is an imbalance, I want to get it fixed...

My point is that soo many people seem to be going and having intolerance testing and coming out some rather wierd information. I have not suggested hard core meds i suggest seeing a medical doctor who can diagnose tests relevant to the symptoms. Overgrowth of candida in the gut could result from poor diet to cancer. Hence why IMHO food intolerance testing should be only under the advice of your doctor and in conjunction with other diagnostics. You are advising how to treat yet you have no idea if this woman is suffering from something more sinister and that concerns me, hence why i will always advise seeking further medical advice in order for the OP to seek clarity about whatever condition she may have. edited by Lolacat on 14/09/2014 I think you misunderstood me, Lolacat; I wasn't for a minute suggesting that you recommended hard core meds, rather that the OP herself was heading down this path. As to me advising her how to treat with having no idea from what she was suffering, I was simply responding to the OPs own diagnosis, which I think is the whole point of asking a question on a forum, isn't it?

Exactly, Lolacat. I have absolutely no faith in those tests. I had them done once, through a naturopath working in tandem with a chiropractor back in the US, and it was complete garbage. They usually promise magical weight loss as well, and treat the body as if it cannot manage its own detox and the like. This is not to say food intolerances do not exist, but if you have one--you'll probably have uncomfortable symptoms. And the first step of action is seeing a GP and stating your grievances, so you can begin the process of finding out what's wrong.

Beebers I agree, i have a few friends who have gone off and done food intolerance testing here without being sent by their doctor and all have come back with a list as long as your arm of foodstuffs they should not have. I'm rather skeptical about it all.

It's not tosh at all, Lolacat. Yes, candida occurs naturally in the gut but a lot of people experience a myriad of uncomfortable symptoms when there's an over-abundance of it, where it kills off more of the good organisms in the gut and produces too much of the bad. You can create good gut health with natural remedy and diet, rather than hard-core meds, which will likely only mask the problem anyway. Being a fungal organism it loves sugar, so if you're serious about getting rid of it, you'll have to eliminate all sugar from your diet. Taking EV coconut oil before meals, and baking soda in water after meals also helps. You should also take a daily probiotic, the strongest you can get (50billion CFU+) My point is that soo many people seem to be going and having intolerance testing and coming out some rather wierd information. guys...candida is a bacteria in the gut...I recently did the food intolerance test and found out about it...it seems it should be treated with medication and so am looking for a specialist... I suggest you go and visit a qualified doctor, Dr Carol Smiley is excellent and she will be able to help. I'm not sure what you have been told but it sounds like complete tosh, Candida is a fungus not a bacteria and it is natually present in the gut. A problem with your guts needs investigation by a medical doctor as it can be syptomatic of another issue. edited by Lolacat on 14/09/2014

Emirates hospital JBR has good Dermatology doctors.. I wish you speedy recovery, it is very irritating I know :( You do not need a dermatologist for candida!!!!!!!!!!! You see a GP or buy over the counter treatment! If it is just thrush , yes go to the pharmacy and get canesten from the counter

I think Izzy means the singing bird in the nether regions, if so dip a tampon in it and insert or buy Diflucan at the chemist
